Sadly this weekend my grandmother's 17 year fight with cancer finally caught up with her and we admitted her to a hospice house for end of life care.
I was going to cancel my trip but she insisted that I still go, along with the rest of the family.
She did however joke with me that she probably would not wait for me to get back to have her funeral so I wont have to get my suit pressed.
So on my way to the airport today I will swing by the hospice house, say good bye, and try to be excited for my trip of a life time.
Maybe you can keep in touch with her by telephone (while she is capable).
Don't worry if you are saddened by her loss. It's part of the process.
Have a safe trip. Hope it all works out.
And yes...you can use the phone from the lodge to stay in touch. You are in for a great time with some awesome people. Make sure you post a story and some pics when you return.
Prayers are with you for your family and a safe trip.
I don't know how you feel, but I know how I felt and even in the eye of celebrating life I experienced the natural grief that accompanies the loss of a loved one.
Death is like a wound- it can be pain and leave a scar, but it will heal in time. My God provide you and your family with comfort needed in your time of pain.
On a different note, you will be sharing the evening campfires with a couple of my good friends. Two of them left today for Dries Visser as well.
Good luck to all of you!
