In part 2 I'll show how I made the habitat. I start by finding the right tree to work with. I look for something with good height and the right trunk structure.

I attach a small plywood base to the tree. This will help when I screw it to the base and give strength.

I like to put the tree on the base to find the right spot. This will give good backing and balance.

Now comes the time consuming part... I cut and shape the tree then put all artificial branches and leaves on.

I drill,cut,glue,wire,and wrap the branches in place.

After I get them all wrapped and in place I brush on a liquid latex to seal. After I dries I will airbrush and blend all seams.

I put a bag around the giraffe and poor foam to shape the ground.

Now I glue the dirt and paint the rock.

I put the leather backing on and remodel and paint the giraffe before I put him in the base for the last time.

Stekewood, The total height is 111".
Trevore, I use dry tempera(powder)paint. Put it in with the foam when mixing. Good luck, Dennis

Unique! There can't be many guys with a Giraffe in their trophy room and there can't be many guys that could mount one with that sort of detail!
