Fellow Bowsiters,
I went to my local Subway restaurant for lunch today and noticed a poster for their new Kid's Meal promotion. Seems that Subway has partnered with the World Wildlife Fund, which I understand is an anti-hunting organization. They're offering reusable lunch bags highlighting four Endangered Species--Polar Bear(?), Amur Leopard, Cheetah and Black Rhino. They've also made a donation to the WWF.
Perhaps they need to hear from a few avid hunters.
I've included a link to their promotions page. The next post will have a link to e-mail their headquarters. I say we let 'em have it!! Gregg J.

Link for contacting their headquarters.
There is going to be some arguing with this, but the WWF has been a proponent of hunting in the past. Organizations like the WWF are not hands down for or against hunting. They are for the good of a particular species. If hunting is not good for that species then they will not support hunting for that species. In some cases WWF has been adamantly pro hunting. One example is they have claimed that trophy hunting is very necessary for the survival of many African big game animals.
If I'm wrong, then I'll admit my mistake and apologize. Before starting this thread, I did a Bowsite search for others about the WWF. The comments I read made me believe they are anti-hunting. I appreciate your post and look forward to seeing what others have to say. Thanks, Gregg J.
Gregg J., please post some credible information supporting your claims. Understand that your call to arms against Subway resturant may cause the hunting community to look foolish if your claims are unfounded.
It seems to me that there are often times as many uniformed hunters that are willing to accuse anyone that they disagree with of being anit-hunter, as there are uninformed antis that accuse every hunter of being an ignorant slob.
Let's please educate ourselves before we "let 'em have it!"
p.s. you might want to search out side of bowsite, i've seen some wild inacuracies on here as well
Wages--You're right. I may be jumping the gun. With so many hunters on the Bowsite, many with more experience with anti's, I'll defer to popular opinion as to whether or not the WWF is anti-hunting. I did check their website, but found their vision statement unclear about their stance. Then I looked at some previous threads here. I don't frequent other hunting websites, so I haven't looked at opinions other than those on Bowsite.
Again, if I'm wrong, I apologize.
Pat's word is good enough for me. I'll do much more legwork before posting something like this again. Apologies to Subway and anyone else I may have offended. Gregg J.
Check that. I just won't post anything like this again, period. If you hear a strange thumping noise, don't worry--it's just me kicking myself.

Check out this link. It gives the stances of many different animal rights and conservation groups. For the WWF it basically reiterates what I said in my earlier post. This is the quote from the website:
" "…the organization itself takes no position either pro or con, on hunting…WWF recognizes that responsibly conducted hunting can be an appropriate wildlife management tool, particularly for abundant game that is maintained on a sustainable basis…WWF opposes hunting which might adversely affect the survival of threatened or endangered species…" "
Meatgrinder, no worries. . . now if you want to start a campaign against Sonic drive ins, I'll sign up for that. I have no idea what their stance on hunting is, but I can't take much more of the comercials with the two guys in the car.
Perhaps we could have a moderator delete this thread. I have an interest in keeping a good name for Subway.
I looked at their website too. One of their Board members is the CEO of Orvis Corp. I found that interesting.
wwf is not against legal hunting , they are against poaching of endangered species just like i am ..also they are against the loss of wildlfe habiat just like we all shoule be...
Meat, your skepticism is understandable in light of the hidden agendas couched in some of these organizations.
if subway is pro-hunting they should come out with a venison five dollar foot long to prove it by gosh!
$5 for 2 oz. of meat and all the lettuce you can eat !!
Bou, good idea, BUT it would have to be farm-raised venison, which means high-fence, and you know what THAT means! LOL
Owl, there's a fine line between healthy skepticism and paranoia.
Well, seriously I doubt that, Acoupstick. lol
