Bow Tech Experience 28" - 70#
485 grain arrow - 4" vanes - hard helical- footed with 1 1/2" aluminum shaft - 150 grain German Kinetic XL's
I swap between the XL's and the silver flame XXL's on white tail. I really like the big 2" cut.
the POI is the same out to 50 yds.
I am wondering what your thoughts are on Penetration on elk with the 2" XXL 175 grain broadhead
or do you think sticking with the smaller profile XL would be best .
Interestingly I'm shooting a similar setup.
70lb Strother Rush at 27.5" 550 grain footed carbon express pile drivers with the 125gr original German kinetic.
If I didn't have a dozen of the 125's already, I'd be shooting the bigger/heavier version.
the Tip construction is beefier - and the overall construction of the head is more heavy duty - there is just more steel there.
also the smaller profile head would be more accurate in windy conditions-
I think if I were to get into the shoulder - or leg joint the XL would penetrate better.
but for double lung shots the 2" fixed can't be beat.
but man I love the gash the XXL rips in a whitetail. I shot a doe with it last year from a tree stand. exit hole was in the opposite arm pit and I when I grabbed the does front leg to drag her out. her front leg came off. Head still in perfect condition.
be careful u might have a double kill or triple if three elk are lined up LOL best of luck louis
they literally shoot like field points.
hoping for an 18yd slightly quartering away shot.
