Late last summer my euro mount fell off the wall and broke the nose up pretty good. Since my taxi had a cape I decided to go with a shoulder mount. Just got him today and hope to get it on the wall this weekend. Looks pretty good.
Looks great as do his surrounding buddies. Pretty symetrical as well
Beautiful bull, great fronts! Congrats.
Very nice. You should have shoulder mounted a bull like that in the first place!
That was a quick pic at the taxidermist so I don't own all the critters in the picture:)
Who wants to come over and help me get it on the wall??
Thanks guys.
Looks good. What does that bull score?
Is that the "Avalanche Bull" Rick
GR Heads Up Decoy
Garrett, yes it is. I taped it at 343, my taxi gets 350n change. One of these days I will get it officially scored along with a few others.
Great bull! OTC makes it even better.
Rick, great bull. That would be great to get it scored officially.
The cape on that bull looks pretty smooth and short-haired. It must have been an early season bull for sure. Real nice headgear.
Sivart, I swore I would not spend the money on mounts any more when I could hunt another year for the price:)
Franzen, that was not my cape but since I killed that bull in August, second day of the Co. season that year, it worked out perfect.
He gave me a deal I could not pass up so now I am done!! I hope he does not have a moose cape!
I think a guy has to consider the hunt circumstances...
If that was Apache White mtns- it would be a dink...
...but your hunt...its like a 420 bull, nice bull even nicer due to the hunt.
Thanks Bruce. headed back to the same unit this year. I am not going to hold out for a better one. lol.
Gathered that from your first post. :^) It probably does match pretty well with your bull though. (EDIT: I looked and I think your bull had a little more hair around the bases ;^)) Better get it hung up!
10 feet up over the fireplace and no one will be the wiser:)
In the garage, getting closer!
Dang nice bull!
I remember him from the Avalanche story.
Good luck, Robb
Nice! Stick another this year my friend.
Great bull Rick! Congrats and good luck on getting another this year!
Mark
I don't know, Rick. Sorta teeny G-5s. Maybe you could have your taxi add a little to them, huh?
:-)
Great bull Rick! Congrats :)
Thanks guys, I hope to hang him up tonight.
Lou, I was gonna let him go another year but after I field aged him based on the "roman nose", "sagging belly", "ears that looked small" etc. I figured I better just shoot as he was on his way down:)
Eyad, good luck this year, hope the hunts go well.
Will, let me know how that sleeper unit that everybody is now trying to draw looks:)
And he is home. Hope it stays there this time:)
Wife is gonna be surprised when she gets home tomorrow!
Looks amazing right where you put him!!! Congrats. Pete
The second picture really looks good. Your bull has tremendous mass and the second picture on the wall shows it much better. After seeing it in person and holding the rack, the picture still doesn't do it "justice". I do however agree with Lou, G-5's teeny. Lol
DJ
Perfect spot for him!!
Good luck, Robb
Like that birds-eye view.
Son-of-a-gun that's a dream bull for most of us!!
looks great. I bet most wives would like a caped mount over a European mount anyway.
Looks great up there! Congrats!
Bruce.... is that elk handicap system like the Alabama whitetail scoring system????
Td, I was hoping this would stay TBM free. Are you making reference to the size or am I missing something?
Just referencing Beendare's 420 comparison to a .... never mind....guess ya had to be there....
My bad... tbm free it is..... =D
That's a great bull, pretty much anywhere I've ever hunted. And looks even more special up there on your wall.
Let us know the reaction when the mrs gets home!
Got you. I did not put that together. I am no Bamma boy but I ain't the sharpest arrow in the quiver.
I sure hope he actually makes a trip out to hunt elk. I just hope its not in my unit!!!
Wife got home and said "holey $hit, that is huge" :) I think I am done. lol.
Great looking bull, I hope your wife is understanding!
Your mount looks great--it's getting me fired up for my elk hunt this Sept.
Yeah Rick, I know what you mean, get that all the time.... a burden some of us must bare.....heheheheh...
TD, It was nice to hear that for a change, she usually just points and laughs!
Very, very nice!!!
You got to love it when a women tells you "holey $hit, that is huge"! :)
That's a great bull on any hunt and a great addition to your home.
