I'm curious what some of the non-resident elk permits sell for these days, please.
This is not a condemnation, I'm just curious.
I think I spent $750 for my highest one, back "in the day."
Thanks for any accurate responses.
These are all NR prices from memory:
CA is over 1300 +$150ish lic.
NV is 1200 +$140ish lic.
NM regular is like 550, its over 800 for the HD. + lic.
WY is about 600, no lic needed, but a couple tags needed.
MT is just under 1000 with the required deer tag.
UT LE is 800+ $65 lic. It's 1/2 that for general tags.
AZ is 665 + 160ish lic.
CO either sex is around 600.
OR is 550ish plus 150ish lic.
ID is 600ish for the lic and the tag.
WA is 600 with no lic needed (i think) but you have to buy a non-refundable gen tag to enter the draw.
AK is around 400 + lic. My combo hunt/fish lic as a NR was around 200.
C'mon Ike, you know that you need a license in WY and not a tag!
Thanks for the detailed response, Ike.
Idaho is 145.50 plus 401.oo this year
New Mexico is 780 plus hunting license about 75.00
Colorado is 601
Wyoming is 577
Montana is 971 for the comb elk/deer You can get a combo elk,and small game for 577
This year for Wyoming:
NR Special GEN elk tag $1,057.00
Application Fee $ 14.00
Conservation Stamp $ 12.50
Archery License $ 30.00
ORV Permit $ 18.00
Total $1,131.50
This thread is depressing me.
Idaho raised the fees a bit.
Non-resident Hunting license ... $154.75 Non-resident Elk tag ........... $416.75
Total .......................... $571.50
no complaining, Bob....still have max points, too!
Montana: Non-resident Elk Combo License - $826 (includes elk license, fishing and upland bird)
Or you can chose the NR Big Game Combo - $976 (Includes deer, elk, fishing and upland bird)
If you want to hunt the archery-only season, you need a $10 bow stamp.
If you want to hunt a limited entry area for elk, you have to spend $9 to apply for a special permit.
I hunted Colorado in 1988 as a non resident. The tag was $250. As stated above 26 years later, 2014 = $601
In 1988:
Medium family income. $27,000
First class stamp. .22 cents
reg gas gal. 1.08
Doz eggs. .89
Average cost of house. $138,000
hunting truck. 10-12,000 bucks
Paul your aging yourself again!
Craig, Remember Jack Benny, once he reached the age of 39, every birthday after that, he still clamed to be 39. He just never got older!
My best, Paul
I remember 1988 well. Very hot and a drought in the Midwest.
I remember 1988 also. I turned 40!!!!!!!!!!!
I can have $1170 worth of fun in Wyoming no problem. lol
"This thread is depressing me"
Lmao yeah I hear that! So blessed to be a Co resident. $45.00
Turkey Hunter, where did you find the 577$ elk tag in Montana?
My 17 year old son gets to hunt Idaho with me for $71.50 :)
Think I could pass for 17?
10 pt... that's outdated big time. The Montana elk only is $826 which is elk only, (no deer) upland bird, fishing, and your conservation license. Add $10 for the bow stamp.
I don't remember anything from 1988 could be because that was the year I was born
Montana has to up the price because of the wolves. Plain and simple, lol in the next year, 5 year, 10 year plan how many wolves and how many elk????? More woles less elk, deer. More empty freezers!!!!!
GL all!!!!
Montana upped the prices because the voters did away with the Outfitter Sponsored Licenses.
It had nothing to do with wolves, it was about animosity between hunters and outfitters.
BowCross not to be blunt but you are clueless.
They eliminated both the General Draw and the Outfitter sponsored licenses and the price met in the middle.
Also... wolves are being managed and elk are on the rise.
In 1988 the dollar was at little over 3 times stronger than now. A tag then was almost 1% of your yearly income. At the median income of 52,100, the percentage of your yearly income a CO tag cost is over 1%. So, thing are getting more expensive the poorer we get. Hunting cost are rising exponentially as well. Isn't it refreshing?
God Bless everyone
It is costs like this that have really mad me look at my hunting priorities. With costs like this I can see why my passion for the sport is dropping faster and faster everyday.
I understand prices rise, and you have to pay for certain things, but it does really suck.
Ok got my rant out I feel better now
Mule Power, I know that's what I've been paying, I thought maybe that was an extra cow tag or something. I've been to Montana 5 times, heading out for number 6 on Thursday!
