After many years of plans not working out, I'm heading to Wyoming after elk tomorrow. I've practiced shooting and calling, and worked out hard. I've read everything I can, including so much good advice here on the Bowsite. Thank you all! Six weeks ago I hurt my Achilles tendon while running. My doctor told me not to run or hike until there was no pain. I haven't run or hiked since then, only biking and elliptical machine. I've prayed a lot, but have been frustrated with the slow progress until yesterday. When I got off the machine, I had no pain at all. None today! I'd like to ask one more thing of you fellow Bowsiters. Please pray for a safe and enjoyable hunt, and that my Pennsylvania legs and lungs are ready for Wyoming's mountains. Thanks and good hunting everyone! Dave

Don't worry... you're from Pa so you'll kill one for sure. :-)

I tore the calf muscle off the bone a month before a new mexico elk hunt in unit 10 a few years ago. Right before the hunt I was able to walk with a cane. I decided to just go and enjoy...and I did! Slow and steady does it! I didn't kill a bull or even get a shot but I was hunting and in elk country. For this Ohio guy it still awesome!
You have the right attitude and will have a blast. God will bless you with a great hunt!

Good luck. Be safe and have fun. I've dreamt about going back to Elk country every day since I left last year on the 24th of September. Have a great trip, take lots of pictures and be sure to post up your story when you get back.
