Son's Chama Bull

We hunted with Milligan Brand Outfitters out of Chama last week. Weather was warm and wet, but last Thursday morning we had a break, nice and cool! We headed to a large meadow and managed to call up two small bulls on the way. When we got to the meadow we watched this bull round up 5 cows and head into the brush on the far side. We watched another bull run towards us and round up three cows below us and back across the meadow with them. We made our way about 3/4 of a mile to our left to attempt to get in front of the first bull. Up the side of the mountain we went! We broke out into a small 50Yd X 75Yd meadow. One call and the bull bugled and he was close! We set up and a few minutes later the bull walked out and presented a 16 yard broadside to my son. About 125 yards later we heard him fall. We had a great time and enjoyed our first elk hunt together. My son-in-law joined us on his first ever bow hunt. He hunted with a buddy of mine who had a shot and missed at 50 yards??? Both of them were talking about coming back next year the second day there!
