Montana elk harvest ?

I hunted Montana this year and was successful , Just wondering how Montana knows how many elk are harvested ? In Idaho you get a harvest report to fill out at the end of the season , if don't do it you can't get a license the next year. Didn't received anything with my tag and can't find anything in regulations about it.

They will call you after the season and ask several questions. How many days you hunted, what unit, were you successful etc.

They do random phone surveys at the end of the year. They're about as accurate as a drunk guy throwing a hatchet at the moon.

Matt's meats in Livingston said it was by far their busiest bow season ever. Probably as accurate as any survey out there.
