I am thinking of doing a solo OTC archery elk hunt north of Toponas and east of Yampa along hwy 131 this year in Colorado. Any suggestions for hunting this area and how is the elk population. Thanks for any help give.

Don'tknow your area,but you can go on Colorado website and find out everything you asking there.Figure out the unit and lookuppopulation numbers,tag allotment,harvest stats,points to draw.I research units that way and then look over maps/google earth to find a hunt area.Then I call biologists to see what they think of my choices Its always nice to hear what fellow hunters on here think but sometimes that doesn't happen.I wish I could help you more

lots of beetle kill, new growth under can be good. just have to cover ground if they are not there.
you want elk? they are everywhere. Seriously, they are everywhere just gota find them. Ive even found antelope there, didn't kill the poor guy cause he's the only one i found? He was with some of his GF's.
