Sitting down and watching it. Beginng scene is just breathtaking views of the Rockies.
Another great video by Will and gang!
18?! I quit watching after about 5 or so.
You have missed some great film footage and hunts. This is the only video I buy each year.
They still produce some of the best videos out there. The editing and camera work are a notch above most of the competition. If you look past the kill shots, there's some great footage.
I could do without some of the "smoked him" and whooping and hollaring though.
Yeah, haha. Still some great country they were showing. Years back I used to buy any elk video/DVD that was made. Now I just buy Primos Big Bulls. Kind of a ritual.
I agree with the beautiful scenery in the videos..however not very realistic for the average elk hunter…kinda leads a person into false hopes…i always thought they should have a trailer at the end of the video.
.WARNING =These results are not typical for most elk hunters..unless you have a large amount of disposable income.. Thats THE Truth ..Thank you for watching..
I've always liked the scenery and the soundtrack with it. I love watching bulls being called in. I don't like all the private land hunts and all the stupid language and celebration moments. Overall great videos though.
"I smoked him" "What a toad" "Right in the boiler" and so on and so forth. Love the actually hunts and footage. I could definitely do without them talking. I am sure they are great guys but man I am sick of all the theatrics.
I bought "The Truth 1" when it first came out, and have every one since. Every year, I save watching the new one until Aug. Don't like getting too pumped up too soon!
IMO, the scenery, elk footage (both audio and video), and "shooter's eye view" of the shot are second to none. Not to mention...I REALLY like the theme song!
Been watching them so long, and most seem to be pretty decent guys, every year feels like seeing old friends.
What wyo said.....cept i can't wait till August to watch..been a fan for a long time
I've been buying and watching them since the Truth 1 as well. I really like the scenery, footage and theme song too but some of the personalities do rub me the wrong way a little bit though.
In regard to not being able to have hunts like theirs without a large amount of disposable income, I strongly disagree. In the 16 years I have been elk hunting I have had numerous elk hunting experiences that would rival anything I have seen on a Primos video and I have never hunted private land or had a guide and some of those experiences were in OTC units. Granted, I usually have to work a lot harder than they do to have those experiences (not always though) but it is possible to have similar action, it just doesn't happen every day...
I absolutely hate what the hunting tv shows are doing to our heritage. a couple of shows aside, they don't get watched at my home. that being said, I get the primos elk video every year. we have a family get together and watch it. pretty much a tradition like the super bowl.
also, I have zero luck drawing elk tags, and yet I have experiences like they do annually. the elk are our there. the primos videos show unreal calling sequences for those of us that hunt public, but bulls are callable. just have to know what to say and when to say it.
We love the quarry we're fortunate to hunt; show respect 'Modest in Victory: Gracious in Defeat'
Personally, I like what the guys at Born and Raised Outdoors are achieving with their 'highs and lows...good and not so good' documentation of their elk hunting
I enjoy their elk vids. About the time US Outfitters was trying to bust the western states chops over tags, and Primos was hunting with George Taulman, I sent a message to Will Primos letting him know what myself, and everyone I knew, thought of George, USO, and the crap he was trying to pull.
About ten to fifteen minutes after sending the message, my gal rings into my office saying there is a Will Primos on the line looking for me. Well, we discussed a little about USO and such. Then I spoke to Will about the places they hunt. He told me that they are super fortunate that they get to hunt many places not available to the general public. No high fence stuff for sure, but mucho grande private ranch grounds. He seemed very much a straight forward guy during our conversation, and showed respect.
Anyway, I think I'll do a search for the latest version of the Truth elk series. haven't actually bought one since about 8 or so..............
I enjoy the truth videos for the most part, But they lead a lot of wanna be's down the wrong path thinking that there are big bulls behind every tree. My hunting buddies and I have killed big bulls on public land as big as any that the Primos crew have, without guides and rolling around on the ground and whooping and hollering.(when we can draw a tag)
Will is a very standup guy and he will always be very up front about the places that they get to hunt. I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to hunt some of the Turner ranches if I was invited. All they have really ever said is they are 100% fair chase. Unless they get caught hunting in a pen, I would have to agree that their hunts are fair chase in really, really good areas.
Only takes money. I'd love to see them hunt unit 2!
Best Elk videos on the mkt, period
Got it!
The best of all Elk hunting vid's out there for sure.
February is a great month as the new Primos Truth Elk comes out, My B-Day and Wyo elk results!
Love it--haha
Good luck, Robb
For some reason I had gotten the idea that Primos was disbanding/shutting down. Hopefully I'm mistaken. Glad to hear the a new release awaits. I like those guys and completely agree that Big Bulls is the best elk hunting video series out there.
Where are you guys finding Volume 18? Stores? On-line?
Picked up a copy at gander mtn yesterday
i was a little disappointed in 18. they left the fat boys home(chris, kenin, and kieth).
Primos used to be at the top of my list for hunting videos, but Born and Raised has passed Primos for me.
without a doubt the born and raised videos are 100000000 times better, but theres only 3. we do the primos ones as a tradition every year.
I have the Born and Raised ones as well however.
huntnmuleys, curse you for costing me $65. I just purchased all three videos. They'd better be good or I'm holding you personally responsible. :)
Looking forward to watching them. Elk season is entirely too far away.
Bagginbigguns, you won't be disappointed at all. Great hunts, great footage, great guys!
Kuiu just put up some great footage on YouTube of Jason's elk hunt in MT. He thanked Will Primos in the credits, no doubt the primos crew have been to this ranch before. It's free, your welcome.
I tried getting it off of the Primos website and couldn't. I just googled it and bought it that way.
bagginBigguns, youll be thanking me.
I get the feeling when I watch their videos that if I ever shared a camp with these guys it would be a hoot. They seem genuine and honest and I know I'd have a great time.
I got the same feeling about Fred Eichler and after meeting him I booked a hunt. I was right. You will not find a nicer more honest guy than Fred. (and I killed a great bull)
I find their videos very entertaining and they know how to show some beautiful scenery and hunts. As for the celebrating after the kill it seems like they've all been told to act like an idiot!!!
LongbowLes, thanks for the reference to the Kuiu youtube material. Awesome stuff! I can't believe some of the bulls that guy passed up!
I have the Primos ritual as well. They are what they are, Horn Porn. As stated above great scenery, footage.... I talked to Will at the Cabelas in Lonetree last year and mentioned wanting some over the counter hunts. In the same light heartiness he shows on film he responded. "If you want I'll send you a blank tape"
i think that MT ranch cost primos 75 k for the archery season
huntnmuleys, you were right on with your assessment of the BRO video. Their video called "Uncommon Ground" was the best elk hunting video I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of 'em. Good stuff. Thanks for the recommendation.
