"Each year, I need 10-12 tags for our TV show. It's not practical to expect my tag luck will produce that many limited entry hunts. I need to be dialed-in on over- the-counter (OTC) and general elk hunting opportunities as well, and each year, these tags represent a good portion of our hunts. Here are a few OTC and General tag options for archery and rifle hunting, as well as suggestions for increasing your chances of drawing a really good limited-entry tag in the near future.."
You can read the rest of Randy's article in the Summer issue and get dialed in for your elk hunt this fall. Subscribe or renew your subscription to Extreme Elk Magazine today. It'll be the best $20 you spend this year!
Many thanks, Corey Jacobsen Extreme Elk Magazine
The only problem with Extreme Elk is that it revives the September withdrawals.

Also agree Randy & Steve Rinella very well spoken advocates of hunting and true promoters of OUR sport.
Oh, and tough, kick as go-getters in the film industry too!
I sure would like to see Randy and Steve do a filmed hunt together. Randy could take Steve someplace he hasn't been before and then Steve could cook up a storm of a meal for them to enjoy in the back country over a camp fire.
Good luck, Robb
Corey and the crew at Extreme Elk Magazine are great hunters and great guys. Those who subscribe can attest to that fact.
Corey and I have talked about doing some projects together for many years. Nice that we finally got the ball rolling. This is the first of a few ideas we have on the calendar.
Corey will be out with our cameras this fall. When my calling scares the elk away, he will be charged with the difficult task of calling them back to us.
Thanks again for all the kind comments. Hope to be worthy of the praise here. And thanks for the crew at Extreme Elk for having me as part of the regular staff.
Mark
Randy took a good chunk of time last summer and helped me immensely with a tag that I drew. He went way above and beyond what I'd expect. I'm very grateful for that, and had the hunt of my life in large part due to his help.
Extreme elk has also been great. I've received it for a couple years now, but the last two issues never showed up at my place. I emailed customer service and it showed that my magazine mailed out. Jennifer put two new copies in the mail and those still did not show up. So, she gladly stuck the two in a first class envelope and mailed them out for a third time, at which point I received them. We still don't know what is going on but she has been great to work with.
I can't wait for the new addition. I have a feeling that I'll be flipping through looking for Randy's article first as I'm walking up the driveway from the mailbox!
Randy's show shows the struggles of your average hunter doing it on their own, and I really appreciate his efforts for portraying that. He isn't always successful on his hunts, but that's real hunting for most people, and I appreciate that he isn't too embarrassed to show the handful of times when he has not filled a tag.
Randy seems like a genuinely good guy, and I think this was a smart move for both parties.

I'm wondering if you might possibly have Extreme Elk Magazine confused for another magazine? I'd love to have you PM me your thoughts, but based on your comments, I'm hoping you have us confused for someone else... :-)
Thanks guys!
PM sent.
I probably could have chosen a better way to describe my perception of the publication. I think mention of "Spider Bull" often carries a negative connotation. I certainly didn't mean to imply anything negative about "Extreme Elk". It's been over a year since I've received an issue, but the magazine was always super high quality and very well put together. I guess from a content perspective though, I was just more attracted to stories about conserving wild places than stories about killing nice bulls.
Needless to say, I'm a huge fan of Bugle Magazine. Extreme Elk, by design is a different product all together. I don't have enough time to read too many magazines. At this point in time, I tend to gravitate more powerfully towards the message of "Passing it on" than a compilation of hunting stories, gear selection advice and an education on hunting tactics. In no way am I trying to suggest others compare one publication to another... again they are different magazines designed to do different things. I think all elk hunters should belong to the RMEF regardless of whether or not they choose to read a single edition of Bugle. Similarly, I believe all elk hunters who want to read about elk hunts and learn about elk hunting from some of the most knowledgeable elk hunting experts in the country would be very well served by subscribing to Extreme Elk magazine.
I've already re-subscribed and am looking forward to my next issue.
Great mag, Corey....even better now with Randy on board.
I find myself reading old issues all the time. The stories are from guys who are what I call "earn it" hunnters.
I hunt OTC Elk and thoroughly enjoy the challenge. Most stories and advice given in Extreme Elk come from those Hunters who enjoy the same challenge.
Great advice(articles), Great Guy(Corey)! Randy's addition is certainly welcome. Looking forward to his contributions to the magazine.
Randy makes a really good magazine even better.
For the cost of ~1.5 arrows, 1/20th of a XXXX brand coat, or 1/25 the price of YYYYY tent, you are going to receive a magazine which highlights stories from regular joes, is produced by one of the best elk callers in the country, and has some legit elk hunting info, well, I AM IN!
Let's not forget great Bowsiter's such as Ron Nizolek who are currently part of the Extreme Elk team!

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain your thoughts. I completely understand and respect your position. Our goal from the beginning was to create an elk hunting magazine that focuses on DIY, public land elk hunting stories and information that regular guys (like all of us involved in the magazine) could relate to. The Spyder bull is an awesome bull, but a reference to it in regards to our mission certainly caught my attention.
I greatly value the input of our readers, and we are continually striving to improve in any way we can. I definitely appreciate you taking the time to respond with your input. And you and I are on the same page....I too feel every elk hunter should be a member of the RMEF.
If you personally gravitate more towards the "Pass It On" theme, you're going to love the Summer 2015 issue. We have several stories that have a Father/Son connection or introduction to hunting. With three young elk hunters of my own, the responsibility of instilling the true love of the hunt into their lives is at the top of my priorities as a hunter and a father. Hopefully some of these messages come across in the content we choose to publish.
Again, thanks for all the support and continued confidence guys!
Many thanks, Corey Jacobsen Extreme Elk Magazine
