I recently found a large sandpile surrounded by farmland and located 1/4 mile from a huge region of Provincial forest. Plenty of tracks revealed that several elk were climbing the pile and milling around on top maybe to enjoy the view. I set one camera on the only suitable tree nearby and put another one on the ground. When I returned the following day the ground camera was 5 feet from where I left it, pointing at the sky and 80% coated in sand. It looked like elk had been licking it or possibly steaming it up with their breath. I think they had fun playing soccer with my camera for quite a while. The first pic was taken by the cam on tree, ground level pics to follow.

This was the last photo taken that day before I showed up to check the camera. At least they left it facing up.

Have had the same thing happen to my trail camera when some elk found it. Pictures of noses, tongues, breath (fog). They really couldn't leave it alone.

Bears can be bad too. Put one up in Saskatchewan for deer, and a bear found it. When we went to check, we heard a high pitched whine as we got close. Found the camera ripped off the tree, laying on the ground, and 'screaming'! Got pictures of teeth, tongue, breath (fog). Lots of bite marks. Despite trying to resuscitate it, the camera didn't make it. It screamed until we took the battery out. Poor thing.

Critters have no respect for expensive cameras!
