Stressed???? Oh man it close!

So who else is stressed as crap this week? I do the exact same thing every year and the same process. I hunt the same spot opening morning, etc. I have the same same camp site, the same camp, etc.
This year my wife is going to be hunting with me for her 2nd year in a row hoping to get her first bow kill. Between kids, school, works, preparing, and getting her to shoot I just am just overwhelmed right now and getting grouchy!
Anyone else? I do however know that next Saturday at this time I will be just waking up from a great afternoon nap and will not a single drop of pressure, but until then it is stressful!
My Tacoma is all packed and I leave RI tomorrow for 5 days of preparing tree stands and cutting shooting lanes at my friend's place in Illinois. Next Friday I drive from there to Colorado for most of the month of September with a Mulie and Elk tag. Not stressed and feel really blessed but then again as a retired guy everyday is Saturday:)
Good luck! C
Not really stressed, more excited. This time next week I'll be sitting in camp- my dad is headed to set camp shortly.
Putting these tags on our bulls after 20 years waiting to draw I'm hesitant to shoot anything the first week or two that is not really magnificent.
Later a good friend can help call them into spitting range, so might now want to miss out on that either?
No stress here. 14 days out, and I'm ready. I'm packed, and almost caught up with work. Or at least as caught up as I'll ever be :)
And I've got a second week scheduled to be gone the end of September, if I need to go back and try again . . .
I can't wait to hear some bugles
Bake
No stress here either, JUST READY TO GO! This time next Fri I will be almost to camp....:)
im totally stressed!!!!! im scouting this weekend and next here in NM and then i get to hunt starting the 4th of Sept. i get 3 days and then back to work for 4 days and then back to finish my hunt for 4 days. I have everything ready as i can forsee. bow and backup are both tuned and ready. camping gear is ready and plans on areas will be ready and final after the 2 scouting trips.
I am stressed. Too much stuff to do and too little time. I have all of the big items done, but I have little things left. Inventory food, waterproof boots, change oil, etc.
Took on a contract job (On top of my day job) and need to get some things done before I head out.
Plus I am trying to get things done at home and finish a big landscaping project.
I am basically worthless at work. In fact, I am now shutting down early (NOW!) so I can throw on my backpack and dream a little more!
I'm stressed and depressed. Really worked hard at staying in great shape all off season and shooting lights out. Broke a foot and nullified all the work I did. Didn't buy a September archery elk tag...which I strongly regret now since I can hobble around enough to hunt. Didn't think I'd be able to hike by now.
I should be excited that I drew a good rifle tag for October but it's not the same. Not even close.
i got called for jury duty :<
City just go in and say hang him. They will kick you and you will be heading down the road. Lol
No stress here either. I had to tone down the workouts though. Been nursing a knee but its feeling better just in time.
cityhunter, if its Jared from subway, hang the bum~!
Yes, very much stressed. Really bad heel spur in my right heel is keeping my from even walking around the neighborhood right now. I'm gonna have the doc give me a cortisone shot 5 days prior, and get my butt to Wyoming !!! I will crawl around the mountains if I have to, but NOTHING will stop me from going. Nice and easy is the name of the game this year.
Safe travels this year to all.
Not stressed at all. I'm not going until the fourth. My gear is ready. At the moment I'm siting at a camp fire with my wife making sue alleged is good to go. Nothing left to do but practice shooting and keep working out. Can't wait. Good luck to all.
Little hard to type in the dark.
city- Tell them you like watching CSI and Cops. You will be back on the road ASAP.
I was called for jury duty before one of my elk hunts. I wrote them a letter explaining the inability to return the tag and inability to reschedule and they let me off. I offered to be returned to the pool when I returned as a demonstration of good faith.
I'm all ready to go too. Have a lot of stuff in my truck except the expensive items that I can't readily replace. In the past week and a half I have had three injection in my back, one visit to the chiropractor and two sessions with a massage therapist. Somehow, I will get my bull out and to the taxidermist. Or have MathewsMan carry it out...haha.
I'm stressing to get all my stuff washed and checked, packed for shipping. Not for an elk hunt but for moose in Alaska. If I forget something out there I'm in real trouble.Just made arrangements for a guy in Fairbanks to ship out stove fuel out to our bush pilot. Can't take that on plane and none in the little town I'm flying to.Got to hope our raft shows up for our bush flight.Crossing my fingers everything goes smooth with all that and the airlines with my bags Hope you guys have a great elk season. Its 3rd year in a row I'm missing it to hunt Alaska.Next year I plan to be in the Rockies come mid-Sept. Good luck on your hunts
Anxious but not stressed. My gear is ready to go. I'm shooting the best I ever have. My conditioning is almost where I wanted it. I wouldn't want to be a bull elk in Montana!
Same here. Anxious. I'm working overtime right now, and haven't even had time to think about putting my gear together. I leave in less than three weeks for a 13 day stint in Montana.
I've been more stressed with getting my truck fixed than anything.
Hope to get a good shooting session in tonight.
Z, I returned your email, you get it?
I'm taking my son in 2016 and I'm anxious for THAT
wish i were going this year like ya'll are !
I'm depressed :) I am in Ohio and not going.
Not stressed about the hunt. I just got back from setting camp and checking a couple of first week spots.
But like always, last minute stuff comes up that needs to be done before I go. Even without a real job anymore it seems like the list grows longer the closer it gets. Deadline for a magazine feature that I thought wasn't due until October, some Honey-do stuff I'd forgotten, a couple of volunteer reports due before I go, a newsletter to get out, etc, etc..
I don't know how I had time for a serious job. I admire you guys who can juggle career, family, and an extended hunt. I used to do it, and was totally stressed that week before the season started.
Wlll start packing tomorrow and then leave on Thursday morning for the 200 mile trip west to my Colorado elk unit. Stressed? Na, just another day.
My best, Paul
Jury Duty!! There is no way in hell I would even think twice about going to jury duty over elk opener.
Stressed..... was on a small Caribbean Island, had to leave due to a hurricane and the only flight out was to Panama.
1.5 days later, many delays and airports I'm on the last leg home. I think I smell and feel worse than a 10 day elk hunt. Have a sore throat, tired of the airport nazis, fat washed up American Stewardess etc etc. I'm so tired of hearing people talk about nothing I'm more than ready to relax in the elk woods.
A bad day in the high country is better than a good day at work.

^^^ Im confused, are your bragging or complaining?
Just ready to get out among 'em.
Complaining......left 8am yesterday, just got home. It was work, play was supposed to be Sat thru Mon, due to storm, had to vacate. There was no way I was missing opener here.
Not stressed because I know that regardless of what happens it will be a blast and a blessing to be outdoors in pursuit!
I'm a little stressed but probably more anxiety than stress. I've got two days in the office this week and a lot going on right now but which is typical for me this time of year in my business. I've got today to wrap the last few things up before my busy work week which includes business travel from Denver to Dallas and back later in the week. As soon as I get back I'm off Friday morning to the mountains. Three days back in the office then back to the mountain for four more days. I just keep saying "I got this" in my mind. Part of the mental toughness in my opinion.
My wife and kids are stressed -- or will be anyhow. I'm leaving my new 8 week old German Shorthair at home while I go play in the woods.
I leave a week from today for my Arizona Elk hunt. Should have 10 days to scout. Still planting or replanting food plots here in Iowa. I am stressed bringing my 11 and 13 year old girls to help scout and see the west flying them home before the hunt starts.
Jim, I hope that works better for you than it did for me when I left my 12 wk old wirehair with my family for two weeks.
Lucky we're both still alive.
I leave for camp on Wednesday, will be a little stressed until then with a million last minute details. it will all begin to fade away when I get to camp.
My dad gets here tommorrow to take my rig into our camp for the opener on Saturday here in Colorado.. I have to be at work until around 10am on Friday and then scramble up...
Hoping it stays hot and dry for the first week of the season.
Not stressed, just very excited as I am every year. Not sure why I came into work today?? I'm taking tomorrow off to load the rig and then Wednesday I leave for Oregon (I live in the Sacramento area, but originally from Oregon).
I'll stay overnight in The Dalles and help the boys load up, then head to camp on Thursday to haul tree stands up the hill and retrieve trail cams etc. Everyone else will arrive on Friday, and we'll set up camp.
I've been waking up grunting and feeling the urge to rub my head on the door frame. Must be elk season!!! Go get 'em boys!!!
Still have 25 days.
I was feeling a bit stressed till yesterday but got all my gear out and started getting a few things together. Alleviated it somewhat.
That and I found my $40 map I thought i had lost, so didn't have to worry about the added cost of buying another. (Big unit map from MyTopo)
More stressed about the audit at work tomorrow though.
