...and somewhere out there an old cow elk is telling your studly son, "Now you beware of those cow calls saying, "Yo, lovaboy, gidovahere!"
OK, I'll start the predicting at 318 gross.
Sounds like you got the trip out all planned out. If you need an overnight in the Black Hills on the way back let me know. I'm 10 miles west of Rapid City.
Good luck.!! My drive starts next week!
ESCAPE from New York -------- does that mean your not going back?
Best of luck Louis Drive safe Dave
Good luck Louis! I'm sure you'll get it done as always!
Now that you've escaped you should just stay out west! Man, I can't even imagine living in NY.
On second thought, scratch that. I still want to have elk to hunt out here;)
Good luck.....keep me posted!
Safe travels and have a GREAT hunt! Looking forward to your report
I like it, safe travels and have a great hunt Louis...
Get it done Louis ! Have a safe trip and kill a wall hanger ! I'll be looking for your story.........
Looking forward to a hunt recap Lou! You always seem to make it happen! Safe travels.
Louis, what ranch are you hunting or is big dan guiding you?
Louis,
Made it home a couple hours ago. I know I told you but they are talking and getting hot. Good luck and call if you get tired on the drive!
Send Dan an email, he is stuck waiting for it to dry out.
Good luck
One of my favorite bowhunts here.
Good times Louis, shoot straight and I hope you packed that little American flag!
Best of luck!
Louis you still running them Wyoming plates on that truck. As long as you stay inside that rig they mite think your a resident. But if you get out of it with that little two step walk they will know your not a local. Be safe on that long drive.
Have a great hunt Louis! Above all, like Dan said.....stay safe on that drive. Them bears don't compare to the roads....
Good Luck City! Have a safe and memorable hunt! Looking forward to the recap.
Best of luck city! Have a great hunt!

Good Luck and Safe travels.
Good luck! Have a safe drive.
Every time I hear Escape from NY I think of Adrienne Barbeau..... sigh.... bet that lady could pack some elk....
Lotta miles. Drive safely Louis. Best of luck!!
He is still there as far as I know. He helped a buddy out for a couple days on the way. Have not heard from him in 5 days.
Perhaps he stopped off at the Elite factory to apply for a "pro staff" position! Ha Ha as Louis would say. Hope you have success!
No, I heard some Wyoming girl roped him into getting married!
Bowboy, it was probably one of those female residents in yoga pants that lured him in.
Louis is in on the hot hippy chick hunting guide like Lou?
Man! I gotta stumble across one of those connections. My hunting partners are great guys, but I don't want to think about them wearing yoga pants.
Probably wrestling a grizz over an elk carcass.
WY res looking for cityhunter.
Brokeback Mountain is a Wyoming story!
jdee
did you mean to put that picture on the "what happened to this fox" thread and place it here by accident?
lol b'bound...no it's in the correct place.
Bet those tags are pricey....
There is a reason that picture is from the back. Turn it around and it is Caitlyn (nee Bruce) Jenner...
This is one of the slower elk hunts on the board.
Is that a high fence operation?
Don't bag on City hes got this all planned. That there is a WY resident that can take him into the Wilderness as his "Resident Guide"
Amoebus you hurt her feelings.
He lost his balls on the back nine and is heading home...
Don,
If that is Jenner I would like to shake the surgeons hand!!!
Damn jdee, take it easy on an old man. That there made my pacemaker hit passing gear !
Hoping the write up is in the works...
Couldnt buy a elk on this trip !! total of TWO elk seen the whole 12 days of hunting . But any day of hunting in WY is still better then a day in NY working !! Unit was elk less this year no sign, hiked a lot of miles went out several evenings at various hours trying locate a herd nada ! I did not hear one bull bugle on his own ,My best day was sept 23 i got a bull to bugle twice from a distance but that was it never a peep . That afternoon i saw the only two elk the whole hunt . I never bumped any elk on my hikes very strange ! I did bugle two hunters they came into 50 yrds with cow calls screaming hahaha i then bugled and raked a tree this went on for 10 min then i walked up to them !!
The last afternoon i went into another unit, just to find and hear some elk !I was nice to hear them bulls screaming on there own during mid afternoon .
I seen more moose on this trip then elk WTH even managed to get a bull moose to charge me ! Almost got me !Lesson learned never turn your back on a bull moose thats inside 20 yards ! called in pack of wolves with a coyote howler!
Sounds like you had an eventful hunt anyway.
Some years are great, others not so great. the worst one are still better and more fun than being at work.
Too bad about the lack of elk. Too much pressure, or something else?
it seemed the unit was on a migration theme lol . MY org sept plans were altered by jury duty lucky i picked up this tag as back up plan !I put almost 8000 miles on the rig yikes . I wish i never returned from WY!!!
Sorry for your luck Louis. At least you got outa town for awhile !
I had similar a experience, Louis. Lack of vocal elk, anyhow.
Misery loves company LOL! Get 'em next time!
Best of Luck, Jeff
Glad you had a safe trip. Sounds like a hard hunt both physically and mentally. Great adventure!!! Appreciate you sharing and posting your experience.
Any day away from New York is a day of paradise regardless of where else you are it what you are doing.
