One of these years I hope to actually draw an archery elk tag in Arizona . Have been talking to Travis McClendon at Arizona elk outfitters about a possible hunt someday. I know there are some other really good outfitters out there also like Wards and Chappell etc. But would like others input and experiences about which outfit you would go with and if anyone has hunted with McClendon? Thanks

I think it depends on what unit you draw. I hunted Unit 1 last year and was very happy with Greg Krogh and his guides.

I was thinking of finding the outfit I wanted to hunt with then put in for the units they recommend and after doing my own research.
I should add that normally I'm a diy guy but after investing this much time in getting a tag, and not being able to scout myself I wanted to up my chances of success as much as possible.
Thanks for the reply

I drew my AZ bull tag a 4 yrs ago. I wanted to hire Travis, but My partner wanted to go dyi this time. I talked to Travis many times and was thoroughly impressed! Even though we went dyi, he gave tons of help and I shot my personal best bull. He is a class act. When I draw my next tag, I will be hunting with Travis!

They've killed some of the largest Bulls in the state over the years. I have no affiliation, but you'd be hard pressed to find an outfitter with a better record of success.

I hunted with Chappell last year. I would highly recommend Steve to anybody who has an AZ elk tag!

Depends on the unit. No one size fits all.

Agree with Heat. Mullins is another great one to look at, especially for unit 7.

I have 10 points now and am 54 years old so will be my only shot at a really good unit. Not sure what unit now after arizona changed the tag structure.
Part of me says get a tag in the best unit I can now and just go hunting, then another says keep putting in until I can pull a really great unit. Decisions, decisions.
Thanks for help the guys.
