I am scouting a new area for elk this year. There was a burn in August of 2013. Unfortunately the latest GE images I can find are July of 2013.

I am looking to find those unburned, isolated patches of timber.

I have downloaded a KML file for fire, but it seems to show perimeter. And I cannot verify extent of fire without a slightly more recent image.

Where else can I search for images that might be more recent? I tried Bing also.

Thanks in advance.

Try the overlays available through the National Interagency Fire Center (link). You'll need to know the location or name of the fire you want to look at. Not sure how far back their archives go, but it's worth a try. The overlays I got a couple years ago were indispensable.

Try the NRCS/FSA office where you are looking.
