Just got the email that I drew a La Sal Mountains tag, Anyone hunted this unit recently? any recommendations on general areas or tactics? I live within a couple hours so scouting is fairly easy, happy to trade info about CO units 61 or 76 as well.

I hunted there a couple of years ago for deer. I did see a couple of nice Bulls at or just below the quakie line. I never heard a bugle when I was there but for the most part I was above timberline. If you want any general unit info I can help. Someday I will draw that unit for elk. When I left there was a lot of riffle guys scouting for the rifle opener that was in a couple of days. They were all glassing the quakie juniper transition. If you have any questions feel free to ask

Grant keep in mind if you are bring a hunting partner that he/she can buy an OTC bow spike/cow tag and hunt the early dates of your season up until the last week, then it is only LE tag holders that can bow hunt.
No leftover deer tags so the spike/cow is the only other option.
