My hunting partner and I will be headed to Colorado on the 28th of July for three days of scouting. We will be hunting the OTC either sex archery tag from September 4-10 and after looking at Colorado P&W hunting statistics and map's we've chosen to focus on units 75/751. This will be our first elk hunt and our first trip to Colorado and I am looking for any information on these units. I don't want anyone's honey hole just some general knowledge on the area terrain, road conditions, weather, camping areas, etc. I am 26 my hunting partner is 37 and we are both in good shape but we're complete flatlanders I'm pretty sure what we call mountains here in Oklahoma wouldn't even qualify as hills in Colorado. We have a pop up camper we plan to use as a base camp but we are not afraid of hiking in a few miles and setting up a FOB to hunt out of. Any information on the units or just general elk hunting knowledge would be greatly appreciated by two rookies.
