Anyone know how the deer numbers are in the unit?I'm thinking of putting in for 3rd season.Would there be too many gun hunters to even attempt a bowhunt?You think the 3rd season dates are worth using points on this year

I can't help on the population question but I'd be leery of bow hunting during 3rd season. My wife and I did a 3rd season hunt there in 2009 and have never seen anything like it for numbers of hunters, amount of shooting heard, or general mob/combat hunting mentality. Otherwise it was ok. Saw plenty of game, just not anything big.

Tons of elk hunters is right. I neglected to mention that I ended up still hunting a little canyon that didn't have any boot prints and killed a tiny little 4x3 at 35 yards. It could be done with a bow but I'd definitely wear lots of orange.
