Always fun to see the different mule deer bucks that filter in and out of the urban area and my yard in north Ft Collins.

These bucks show up just before the rut, find the does, and follow them around like eager puppies untill the rut is over.

By next month they will migrate out of here and head for their summer range just a mile or so north of here.

We were hunting muleys in SD one year and a fellow invited us over to his housing area to shoot a big buck or two. Said they came right up to the porch.

Declined. Just didn't seem right.

Here are a few in our yard this year. They are a pain on our shrubs and trees even with wire to keep them away.

We have no snow here in NW Colorado.

This morning we had 37 deer in our yard, more like spring range than winter.

I am upgrading my stock tank to an 8' plastic one since the deer guzzle up our water. This is a shot from the deck off our bedroom.

The rut makes them deer less of our dog, chickens, even stand in my driveway when you walk to the garage. They are a pain!

Yea Scott, I had to wire in a lot of my tree in the Fall and that has prevented them from rubbing.

Todd, actually Paul and I live in unit 9, which can be drawn with zero because it's all private land. We're neighbors.

Paul, my neighborhood bucks seem to have wandered south in your direction. Haven't seen any for a couple weeks here, haven't had any road kills on Hwy 1 all winter.

Mathews- did you not shoot that buck cause he was too small or waiting for something bigger?

No, I usually have an archery tag so they are still in velvet.

Legally we can archery harvest them so I would only take one if it were really good.

Plus, many of these bucks my son and I get their antlers when they shed in the spring.

This one we found one hanging on our fence and the other close bye. These are now 3 year old sheds, but with a 10" spread he netted 168". Have not seen him this year but he grew a lot of mass and stickers and with a 12" spread pushing 200". I think he got taken by a lion since the 20 miles of ranch behind us does not get hunted near us.

This was the Town buck during archery I kept holding out for to pass through, he is still here in town. He only came onto our property during the rut.

We had snow today and glassing for deer I spotted the first shed of the year. Walking with my wife she found the match.

Not one of the better bucks here.

This is what ruined muley hunting for me, maybe if i grew up where whitetails were lawn ornaments Id hate them too.
