How was the Wyoming winter on the deer and elk?
Don't forget the speed goats !
It has been pretty mild for the most part. Right now, we could really use some moisture.
Dry in the south ... poor snow-pack year. If we don't get some monsoonal patterns going, look for fires this year. Overall, a very warm winter. Snow was no good for cc-skiing most of the winter.
Very mild winter and very dry! Pray for rain!
All I can say is what winter!!!
we don't get a LOT of rain here directly, were gonna be in a pickle
"All I can say is what winter!!!"
Exactly! Here's some numbers that show how bad it's been.
The guy that runs the Nat'l Weather Service office here in Cheyenne put a webcam and weather-gathering instrumentation up at his cabin in the Snowies. It's west of Laramie, and a little north of the Wyo/Colo border, at a place called Keystone. He's been gathering data since the winter of 2001/2002. Since that time, the yearly snow avg has been 260.2". Last year they had 314", and the best year-to-date was 2010/2011 when they had 368". As of today, they've had 164". It shaping up to be an extremely grim year.

Yep it's been pretty mild. Have already had quite a few grass fires and it's no even summer yet.
Suppose to get some snow this week but I'm sure it won't be enough.
maybe ill hold off on a muley tag this year.I have points for really good units and don't want to waste them.Area I was looking at seems ok though with no drought mentioned
My buddy in Jackson said it was the worst ski season ever. Every time I talked to him from Pa it was warmer there and very little snow.
Pretty dang mild for a Wyo--winter.....lot's of winter survival due to the mild winter, temps and snowfall.
Might be kinda dry this summer/fall but should have plenty of wildlife to see/hunt.
Good luck, Robb

This link shows the current snowpack/water situation by region across the state, and with a median average of just 70% snowpack statewide as of Monday, March 30th, (2 nearly 80 degree days since then) things look pretty bad. Last year the state median was 135% of normal snowpack on this same date. Lots of wildlife will survive the winter well, but without water, the fawn crop will never see the end of summer. It's quite concerning at this point.

Long term precip maps look ok
