Screwball, the first opener is the A zone in coastal California. It opens on the 2nd Saturday of July.

Yessir brett I got me a nice buck last year, super humbled and fortunate to have taken the 2 bucks I have with my bow! Now if my lucky streak will just continue on, I got another archery tag to fill later in the season!

2015 Mule deer shot at 47 yards.

On Sept 2nd I put my best friend on this mule deer and he was able to seal the deal. My wife was right beside him and the deal was if the deer was closer than 40 yards she go to shoot it, if it was further then he got to shoot it. The deer walked up to the fence at 63 yards so my buddy was setup to shoot it. The deer then turned and walked right down the fence to 17 yards and jumped. He was already in the position to shoot and there was not switching. This is his first antlered animal with a bow and green gross is 202" non typical. As a 3X3 this deer goes 174" then add all the non typical points. I don't know if he wants his ugly mug on here so i blacked it out

I hunted SE Alberta with Jesse Van Maarion of Wild West Outfitters in mid-September. I was fortunate enough to take this nice buck halfway through the hunt. It was a 33 yard, quartering away shot and he only went 60 yards, tipping over in sight. I was using a 150 grain, 3 blade VPA and a 100 grain brass insert. The total arrow weight was 550 grains and that VPA did quite a number on the offside leg bone. The next photo was how the bone came out of the front, offside quarter. Unbelievable penetration.

Once again, I have the smallest buck on the thread :)
19 yard shot. He did a big 150 yard circle and died right behind me. I thought I was gonna get a second shot as he came back.
One for the freezer. 3 days left up here to find a big one with my 2nd tag, or else it's back to San Diego. The forkies are safe for now.
