CO Unit 201 2nd season deer

My hunting partner drew a 2nd season unit 201 tag!! I hunted 201 a few years back for elk and saw a number of great deer. My questions are... should we focus on the timber near middle mountain and diamond peak or look for them on the cold mountain springs ridge or even the open BLM land? I have never hunted for big deer this early in the year and want to get a feel for what to expect. Any information provided would be great! Not looking for secret spots just some general areas that we can focus on for scouting and hunting. Thanks in advance.
