O.k. I'm going to start this because I'm getting ready to go in two weeks. I know some seasons open soon. So let's see how people do this year. May GOD bless your seasons.
Here's my 2016 Idaho muley, slightly quartering away shot. Made it maybe 75 yards down the hill and down within 30 seconds, shot at last light 8/16/16
A beauty Juan! Congrats! 36 days and a wake up for this guy until I'm back in muley country.
Awesome buck, Juan (Edit :) Looks like his velvet was already splitting. Are you going to mount in velvet? Real or fake velvet? Congratulations!
Thanks guys, and it's spelled "Juan" Embry and Bowboy! ;) His velvet was in great condition before the shot but he tore it up a little crashing through the brush and when he fell. He's in the freezer as we speak so he'll be getting mounted with the real thing. I can't stand the look of fake velvet
congrats Juan.. Beautiful Buck
Damn nice, great shooting...
Nice 1 Juan!
Congrats
Good luck, Robb
Great shot too. I am heading to Colorado in two weeks. Hope I have your luck.
Nice job, Roy! Those mule deer are too easy. :)
Good start gentlemen! I'll be after it in 7 more days. Hopefully with similar results.
Way to go amigo...Another great Buck!
Wow, Roy and Juan, great bucks! Way to kick off the season!
Roy congrats! I'm glad to see that shoulders working ;-)
Ha....it is. Glad it only took one shot! Worked my way back up to 55 pounds......about it for right now. Those turkeys kicked my rear end.
Cant wait to get out there!
Roy: Looks like a lot of deducts:) NOT! Symmetry Rocks!
2 1/8" to be exact, Charlie. :)
Great bucks so far fellas! Keep em coming!
Mr Automatic... congrats. Nice one. Ed F
I hope I get one like those two. Very nice guys.
Paul
Great bucks guys!
Roy how was the weather in UT?
Here's a couple I shot just this morning! Ha Ha
Congrats to all of you on some very nice bucks.
My son called me just before dark last night and said he shot a nice 4x4 here in Utah. Then he text me this morning that he was with a friends 12 year old son and watched him shoot a nice 3 point. His older brother also shot his buck the night before, so they are going down.
But I received a text with a photo from another friend today and his young son, (I think the first year he could hunt) arrowed a huge, and I mean huge buck (around 200). He poofed it and the buck made it less than 10 yards. He ask that I not share the photo at this time and of course I will honor that. It was a Utah buck in a general area, not a limited unit.
Have a great bow hunt. BB
PS. Notice the shadow of the last bucks antlers on the rock.
Mule deer bucks rock!
Bill,
Great photo as always!! Glad to see you are still getting it done.
Nice bucks guys.
A couple of good bucks from southern Utah
a couple great bucks! Nice double fellas!
those two bucks look like brothers
Awesome photo, Bill! Way to go getting that shot!!!
Nice couple of "twins" there from S. Utah!
Awesome bucks guys! Congrats! You're killing me, I still have 30 days to wait and watch.
Beautiful bucks guys!! Roy what did yours green score?
Just wow! Congrats to all!
Roy....how many points did you have to draw the Books?
6bull:
In camp.....a rough measurement was 152".....
Midwest:
I had 13 points.......just got tired of building points knowing I'll probably never draw the Henries or paunsagaunt. Wanted a fun hunt with lots of bucks. The Book Cliffs is just that, IMO......but not known for big deer.
OMG pirogue... beautiful buck. Ed F
Great looking bucks everyone!
Got to like this time of year and velvet Bucks!
Some great muleys have been taken! Congrats guys!
Awesome Muleys Guys!!!
Keep the pictures coming!
God Bless,
Scar.
Great bucks! Congrats!!!
Mark
I killed a deer tonight just outside Craig, Colorado, unfortunately it was at 65 mph with the front end of my truck.
Come-On,
A whole bunch of states are open now -- somebody must have scored in the past week.
Don't be shy.
Absolutely gorgeous buck Jim - congrats on a real trophy!
Congrats on the bucks so far guys!
Beautiful buck, JIMBOW! Congrats to all so far. Great trophies.
Here's my results...
Hey Embry - that blue ribbon doesn't look so bad.
Nice bucks guys!
Great bucks everyone! Here's mine.
Utah Fish Lake 8/21
I am not sure what happened to the picture in my above post, if anyone knows how I can add it back to my above post I'll delete this one. I couldn't figure it out.
Wow, some great bucks guys!
Baylee with her 2016 Wyoming buck, her best to date.
Way to go Baylee & Jason!

Here's my meat pole pic. AZ 2 point
here's the field photo. There was a nice 3 point with it, but he presented a better shot.
I took this buck in Alberta a couple of days ago with Wild West Outfitters. I was able to get in to 80 yards of him earlier in the morning and just hoped that he'd get up and come my way, but the wind flickered just enough to alert him and the 3 bucks he was with to the human presence in the area. I waited for them to cross over the ridge before following and was able to spot them bedding down in a break in a dam. It was a perfect location for me, and I was able to get in to 15 yards from the closest buck at 33 yards from this one. He had dug himself a bed into the dirt bank overhang so that only his head and neck was exposed. The closest buck was bedded facing me, and I knew that he'd see me as soon as he stood, so I waited with an arrow nocked and my release on the string. The sun was nearly on him so I knew that it wouldn't be long. He started to look around after about 15 minutes, and when his head dipped down, I drew. As soon as he stood, he locked on to me and blew out. The big buck didn't even look, he just evacuated his bed as fast as he could. Luckily, he stopped and did the classic muley look-back at what I figured to be 45 yards. The VPA took out the top of his heart and he barely made it 100 yards before expiring. I also took a great antelope on this hunt on the first stalk of the first day, after passing up bucks for the past 7 years, waiting for the right one.
My 2016 trophy. butchering and heating up the grill as I type.
You guys have killed some really good deer this year! Congrats. Here is my 2016 WY deer.
Spot and Stalk Montana Public Land Mule Deer
Congrats on some great muleys. I didn't hunt deer this year (might grab a leftover tag somewhere) but I had an odd year. I hunted elk 6 days this year in good mule deer habitat and never saw a deer. The State is trying to grow the herd back after knocking it down as an experiment to slow down CWD. When I was a kid this area had a pretty big population.
My son, Nathan with his first spot and stalk, traditional bow kill on the last day of Colorado's archery season. He stalked a really big buck earlier and got a shot at 15 yards, but hit the shoulder...
My spot and stalk mule deer from this morning. I've wanted a buck like this bad and worked hard for him! God finally blessed me with an opportunity this morning!
First mule deer with a bow. Spot and stalk September 17 in Wyoming.
Colorado... last week.
BobinBend
Here's mine for 2016. Had a great hunt with an old friend:-)
My son Hunter with a spot and stalk buck he made a nice 40 yard shot on.
My daughter-in-law killed her 1st ever spot and stalk also with a 40 yard shot. Her brother-in-law above helped guide her.
October 3rd in Saskatchewan
Oregon solo public ground
Nice one... congrats. Ed F
Dam guys congrats on great bucks!
JASON I'm sure Baylee is a lot nicer than you and does not hang things on other hunters doors in the middle of the night. Great deer and kudos to both of you.
My first Mule Deer Buck - A real trophy to me. 60 yards, G-5 broadhead, PSE Bowness. Nebraska
Poked this guy, my best so far.
All of my kids and myself got into the action this year in my lucky Shirt! Both younger kids arrowed bucks (same day) and each was their first bow harvest too.
Gonna have to hide that shirt to keep the wife from washing any luck out of it!!!
Way to go! Awesome that the kids were able to get out there and get bucks with their bows! Spectacular buck that you got this year as well! You are definitely living right:)

BTW - Big congratulations on your first trad-kill with that whopper!
Thanks Tavis. All the snakeskin work refinishing and no displaying it with my deer ??
Decoyed this one in for a 40 yard shot in high winds. Thanks to Jaquomo for the decoying advice. The Montana decoys worked well and the Iron Will broadhead flew true.
Passed him up earlier at close range while holding out for one of the two big guys in the area

Second time around he wasn't so lucky.
Second time around he wasn't so lucky.
He was the 16th buck I called/decoyed into range in 14 days of hunting. With the weather coming and running out of time I decided to put him in the freezer. He walked by at 10 FEET where I was hiding behind some fallen branches, and I shot him walking away at 7 yards. Fell over 80 yards later, in a great spot I could drive to. So it all worked out and he'll do for this year!
Fabulous buck, Mathewsman! Was he one of your "yard bucks"? :)
Congrats Jaquomo! Your mule deer thread was always one of my favorites of the year.
Man, you guys kill some awesome mule deer!!! Half those guys wouldn't fit between the trees here.
Congrats to everyone!
Jaquomo- I wish, no we hunted a water source. Hunting this year was strange, hot temps and unseasonable weather made it tough. Guiding, the deer was great for rifle, and I managed to get lucky with the combo deer/elk hunter I had taking both, but it was extremely difficult to even fill a husband/wife rifle 3 day cow hunt, which most years would be a first morning type of deal.
Just a little forky, but now I can legitimately say when asked where? "right in the center of the heart !!!"
Longest pack out I've ever had on a deer at about 4 miles on my skis and the buck in a jet sled. Shortest tracking job of 11 yards and the second smallest buck I've ever shot :)
Cheers, Pete
Love those holes through the heart!
