Battle River Outfitters in Saskatchewan

Hello all ! I was wondering if any of my fellow bowsiter's have ever hunted with Battle River Outfitters in Saskatchewan for Mule deer " yes Mule deer " The owners name is Ricky Albert . Any information that you have would be greatly appreciated . Best regards !!

I'm not sure that a non-resident can hunt mulies in Sask

The only non-resident muley hunting allowed in SK is on HF game farms and possibly on some Indian reservations. I'll go out on a limb here and guess that success rates on the game farms are likely pretty high but I have no info for you about the reservation hunts.

I think this particular outfit is on an Indian reservation.

i hunted with some guys last year and the cree took one of our group out to their lands and he killed a very nice mule deer.

Don’t hunt with Battle River Outfitters, Saskatchewan. No animals and you’ll get screwed.

I’ve hunted with battle river outfitters/rick Albert for 9 years in a row. 5 beautiful wall hanger whitetail & 2 175+ mulie on the wall. Always been fair with me. No guarantee just hunting!

I’ve hunted with Albert 3 years in a row, his area is almost shot out. He’s extremely cheap on whitetail/muley which is why he fills up on bargain hunters. He provides guide service, he’s not a outfitter. Transportation, lodging and food are on you, he’ll get a local buddy to drive you around in the pickup to shoot at game. Natives do the same on the same property but they’re allowed to use spotlights at night. He doesn’t provide reviews or allow them on FB page for a reason. If you’re out of shape and can only pickup truck or blind hunt then this is the guide for you. Dozens of Canadian outfitters with thousands of reviews and references in a 100km radius that are similar priced but are full service and aren’t shady. Do your homework.

It’s absolute crap that the natives can guide non resident hunters in Saskatchewan for mule deer ,yes they own the land but the wildlife belongs to the people.Its just another case of the natives misusing their rights and our Government doing nothing about it .Lots of bad feelings on this topic up here.White riots are soon to happen.

The Natives don’t care as long as they can earn some tax-free USD. They will shoot anything, every year when I go to the casino in North Battleford, a native has tried to sell me a whitetail carcass they just shot for some cash. It’s ridiculous

Why continue to support this? 3 years in a row? If there is no demand, maybe they cut back in the slaughter, doesn’t seem the govt. gives a hoot.

There is great mule deer to be had in Mellette County, SD. You could hunt the reservation or hire one of several guides. There is lots of public land around Ft. Pierre. Motel owners have some public land info and would know who's killing good deer.

Bishunter, genuinely asking here, but isn’t this guy the ONLY guy that can guide mulies in SK? In which case there really aren’t many options. Went to his website and he only has rifle hunts listed, does that mean they won’t take a bowhunter actually wanting to BOWHUNT? I get they hunt like is very popular in SK and just drive around but are they open to letting guys get out of the truck and HUNT?

A word of caution for Non-residents hunting Saskatchewan through an Indian Reservation Outfitter, particularly for Mulies, Moose and Elk.

Be damn sure you stay on that Rez.

These licences are Only valid on the specific Reservation land.

It has become quite common for those guiding these hunts to take their clients hunting off the Rez., resulting in the hunters being charged for hunting illegally, losing their game, $ and ability to hunt in the future.

There are a few outfitters that do muleys, Battle River Outfitters only does rifle from the truck. I brought my bow and all the stands have bait sites that are 70 plus yds away. Book a Canadian guide and not a Native. Alberta has way better muleys anyways.
