pictures of 130 inch bucks
Whitetail Deer

I signed a lease today. Its the first time I've ever done one. I had to agree to shoot only 130" or above bucks and/or does.
Is it pretty easy to tell a 130 incher? The guy I leased the property from tells me just be patient and I will see them.
I guess I need to learn how to field judge antlers. Something I've never done before.
Do any of you have some pics of 130 class bucks?
140 inch gross....132 net....
A little over 135 in this picture before he broke his brow tines.
Its funny what it takes to actually net 130. Those are some great bucks. I'd shoot them any day of the week.
these are all definately in the solid 130 range. so many threads about "guess this score" that are just way off base with the estimates. these are very much on the money with the scores given. very nice deer guys, and thanks for posting them. the best way to judge a 130 buck is with your bow still hanging on the hook. if it is in your hand, your estimate will certainly be off. in life, when the buck is moving, air in his lungs, and approaching your stand, a 118 will look like a 140, so be careful. where is your lease?
This is going to be tougher than I thought :)
Seriously these are some nice bucks compared to where I'm used to hunting.
The owner told me as long as its close to 130 he'll let me slide. I'm cool on it though. My will power is strong.
Jackson cty MI.
Its nice and close to home so I should be able to hunt it quite a bit. Sharing it with some other people I've yet to meet. Probably kind of risky the way I entered into it. But the owner seems really cool and the property is located in a really good spot. I figure if everyone else is holding out for the 130 or better the hunting should be pretty cool.
The one on the left is 135 gross 126 2/8 net. Middle one is 141 gross and 129 6/8 net. One on the right is.....not a shooter on your lease...lol
134" gross, 129" net. My tip would be if he looks like a 130", don't shoot. If he looks like a 140"+, then shoot! A typical frame is not that hard to field score, if you have not gotten too excited. Just remember that tine length will really make the difference.
Most 8 pointers will not book, let alone make 130". For an 8 to make 130" it needs to be wide, tall and with good mass - atleast 3 years old. For an 8 the spread should be past the ear tips, and G2's and G3's should all be over 8", and the brow tines atleast 6". These scores alone will put it in the mid to upper 90's alone, then add on the mass measurments.
If I am correct this one scored 132???
Official P & Y Score was 130 and change.
Before deductions it was 135 and change.
Knive hit a major point in that a 10 pointer will score 130 way quicker than an 8.
131 and change, P&Y (I'm at work and can't remember x/8"). A 130" deer still looks pretty big to me.
Here is another just over 130".
this buck was 138 gross net was only 118 main frame 8. but he was 7 yrs old. This isnt his cape. i used it for a larger set of horns that i have becouse he was huge
I am going to hunt a game farm this fall. But, I had to agree to shoot a buck in the 143 7/8" range.......Does anyone have a pic of one exactly that size? Thanks. Oh, almost forgot, that will need to be NET SCORE, not gross. He stated that I needed to account for shrinkage and discrepencies among various scoring officials, too. Thanks again.
The pic submitted by PSUhoss is a great example of what Knife2sharp was trying to say...PSU's buck is wide and high but is "just over 130" because it is an 8 point...great buck PSU!!
I would pay good money to have someone post a 143 7/8" net buck for Roger.....
This one grosses close to 140"
130 1/8" net
LOL caribou77!! I would match your "good money" for video of someone snoopy-punching roger in the suckhole.
Like Knife2sharp said, it would take an exceptional 8 to make 130. Also remember that a buck's rack typically looks a lot bigger from the rear. Getting a couple of views will put the size in perspective.
Some not-so-hard-and-fast rules - look for the rack to extend past the ears. Look for the main beams to extend to the nose. Look for good tine length. A buck's ear will be about 7" long. You can use that for comparison on tine length.
This buck ended up netting 125 1/8 inches. hes a clean 8 and i thought for sure he was way more than that when I shot but it is true an eight has to be exceptional to be over 130.
Right off the bat an eight as compared to a 10 looses 2 tine measurements, 2 mass measurements and typically an 8 pt has shorter main beams than a 10 pt.
If this buck would have had 2 more tines at 3 inches in length he would have been in close to 140.
Sorry, but you don't lose two mass measurements. They are taken half way between the G3 and end of main beam. If you kill a six point, you still get the four mass measurements per side. In that case, you divide the main beam into thirds from the G2.
For instance, if you see a giant eight-point main frame like this, you better shoot. This one grosses over 170 with 14" G2's and 6.5 inch bases along with 26 inch main beams.
yes but compared to a 10 point an eight pt has one less mass measurement per side.
however i do agree i will never let an 8pt like that walk ever
sorry guys. I got it wrong. You guys are right 4 mass measurements. for some reason I thought mass was measured between all tines
So what is the difference between gross and net? It looks like net is always less than gross. Am I okay as long as it grosses 130? It seems to me that grossing 130 even if it doesn't net 130 it would still be considered close.
Guess I'm going to have to talk to the owner some more about that.
Thanks for all the pics by the way. You guys have some really nice bucks!
I bet the owner does no what a true 130 looks like. A net 130 is a good deer anywhere in my book and that the one that counts.HUNT
Here you go Roger
He is 143 2/8 Net. You said "in the 143 7/8 range"....just make sure it is 5/8 bigger then this one:^)
Waterloo, I would talk to the landowner, but he probably is not asking you to deduct antler. He just wants 130 class which means gross. Gross is the total amount of antler before taking off for lack of perfection. Ben's buck above will deduct for having a ninth point.
130" shot near Marshfield, Missouri on family farm.
you should ask for 130 inch trail camera pictures, this will help you alot.
Here's one my son killed in December of 2009. 134 4/8 gross, 129 1/8 net.
Here`s one from last fall.............
Here is a 8pt my brother shot when it was still alive. Grossed 137.
This one was 149" gross and 137" net
Roger, this one is 145" gross, 143 6/8" net Waterlooboy, remember if he has at least 10 points and any kind of tine length I think you'll make your 130", I'm no trophy hunter, the one pictured is my biggest and only one I ever had measured, so this info is coming from someone not very experienced in the large antler category, just got lucky once.
Here is a 127" net on the hoof just before I took him.
Too many people seem to get tripped up with scoring deer on the hoof (myself included). Rather than set a minimum score or amount of points...maybe you could suggest that the landowner sets a general age requirement instead...such as mature bucks only (3.5yrs and older)?!
Sometimes it's better to shoot a 115 - 120" 4.5yr old than a 125" 2.5 yr old. No matter where you hunt, some bucks have more potential than others, and you'll never know if you don't let 'em grow.
ok far right netted 138 3/8 second in from right netted 144 7/8.
Here is one I shot last year scored 123 and some change.
Just because they are a 10 doesnt mean they will hit the 130 mark.
As you can tell spread is past the ears.
You need some mass and good tine length to make it there!
This one is a little over 120 gross and 6 1/2 y/o 28in neck, add some decent G-4's and you would have a 10pt 130 class deer. Remember most size restrictions are based on gross scoring not net, so you have some lee way, but as others have said, to make it with an 8pt would be 1 of the "binoculars not needed" deer but any decent 10pt should make it in most mid western areas.
It's harder to take a good book 8 pt but they're out there. This one grossed 153 even and netted 149 5/8. Of his g2s and 3s, the shortest is 10 4/8 and longest is 12. Tine length obviously means a lot!
bunch of bid deer pics wow!
This buck grossed 130 5/8". Where I hunt in Ne most 3.5 year olds that are 8 pointers are going to be around the mid 120's. This buck was a 4.5 year old.
This buck grossed a little over 136 but only nets 125 ruffly. He is another 4.5 year old.
This buck only grosses 124. A 3.5 year old.
Waterloo: I would show the LO this thread and pics and see if this is what he was thinking or more in the 120" range.
I would actually see if you could make a deal around maturity - maybe bucks that are 4 1/2+ yo.
That way you may save a young buck who may be 130" and a year or two more could produce a great buck and maybe shoot a 125" buck that's 5 1/2 yo but will never get any better.
Either way, good luck!!!
Probably not a big reason to show the LO this thread since this went down 4 yrs ago.
I posted in this thread even though it was 4 years old above because before I went out hunting this year I was looking at it and I found it very helpful. It helped me judge the 10 pointer I posted above. I hope all of these magnificent pictures continue to help others looking to land a good buck in the future!
For a very rough on the hoof estimate on an average sized deer. Add the lengths of the G2, G3 and G4 (if present) multiply by 2 and add 95. So for instance, a buck comes in and you can see a 7" G2, a 6" G3 and a 3" G4. 7+6+3=16. 16x2=32. 32+95=127. It's very rough but a decent way to get an idea. The 95 accounts for mass, main beams, brows (G1) and inside spread.
Most of these pictures are accurate for score but some must be using a very inaccurate tape measure or just flat out have no idea how to score...
Hope this works, he nets 133"s He grosses a lot more.
"Most of these pictures are accurate for score but some must be using a very inaccurate tape measure or just flat out have no idea how to score..."
Exactly what I was thinking. Really?

Nets are for fish on deer like that deerman406. I know you worked hard for him and thats a stud! Congrats!
Waterloo, I posted my pic. for you to show you how gross and net can be way different. As I posted this deer nets 133"s as a typical. He grosses over 165"s and has 7.25" base on left antler and over 6" base on right antler. You also cannot see two of his points in the pic because of the angle. 130" deer whether it is gross or net is a very nice deer most anywhere! Shawn
Hawkeye, Thank You sir!!! Shawn

Just shy of 140
not sure as I never scored him but the taxidermist thought around 130"
My biggest buck to date grossed 152" but will prob net in the 130's...It's already been said, I too think nets are for fishing! haha
Very good pic mattanderson! Cool buck!
I can't read since this started 4 years ago. Would love to know how this lease worked out anyway.
Thanks 12yards! I am extremely happy with him!
135 2/8" but he did gross 161.
Just got this one on 11/8. Unofficial net score, 129" and some change. He grossed in the low 130's.
So the long and short is that an 8-point would have to have you shaking in your pee-filled boots to have a really good shot at 130...
Right? Or am I oversimplifying?
I guess I'm happy I don't much care..... Tell ya one thing - there's not a buck on this page I'd give a pass to!
I haven't scored my deer for a while but I'm guessing this one to be 130's
The one on the left grossed 138" and netted 135 7/8 officially. The one on the right I never scored, it was a rifle kill taken in the same season
Left to right, gross 127, 133, 125, ?,?.
I haven't put a tape to him yet, but this one should be mid 130's gross.
There are lots of 8 pt. PY. Not many 8 pt. BC.
132 gross 129 7/8 net and the back legs of an elk.
I think by now Waterlooboy has a good sampling of 130ish bucks. So WLB, how is the hunt going this season? Have you seen or gotten a chance at a 130+" buck yet?
Not scored, but close enough and 5/8".
-Joe
Wow! Thread is over 7 years old and still going.
You can always tell a 130 incher......but you can't tell him much.
This is not a good pic but he nets 127-1/8th. He may be the grandson of the other buck I posted. Same rack configuration. Shawn
Wow, I bet they are related Shawn, assuming it's from the same area. Very cool.
Same stand one day apart I. Consecutive years.
This one nets 130 P&Y even.
I went to contribute to this thread and realized I had already done so 7 years ago lol
Same buck better pic
Same buck better pic
Never ground checked this one but it’s the only 130” I have on my phone. I’d say he’s within a few inches of 130.
official measured-130 & change gross, 125 1/8 NET.
