Meet Trashy
Whitetail Deer

This is a Maryland buck that I was fortunate enough to hunt. His uniqueness made him instantly recognizable. We would get him on trail cams on our mineral licks fairly early in the year and watch him grow but by September he would leave. This went on for the last three years. We saw him in the beans this summer but never did get him on the mineral lick, he was impressive in August in full velvet at what we figured was 4 1/2. In this area that's pretty rare between the hunting pressure and the poachers.
I was away the last part of October having a great hunt in Wisconsin and was tickled when I checked some camera's and there was our boy lookin good.
Take note that the 1st pix was last year...we never did get a velvet pix of him, yet we spotted him several times here and there.
Fast forward to election day and I was hunting about 1/2 mile from where I got the Oct pix and about fell out of the tree when I spotted some does running thru the timber and Trashy grunting behind them! I got to watch him for an hour and thought he'd never get close enough for a shot before it got dark. I had cleared a shooting lane that ran for a good distance in front of me and one of the does took him for a big loop around me and next thing I know the doe is walking straight down that shooting lane heading right for me and guess who is grunting behind her. She gets under me and stops to smell where i had peed put of tree. she spend a minute smelling things and in that time the old boy makes a scrape and lets out a few deep quiet grunts that were neat to hear. The doe passes on by and now Im in between her and him!! He steps out in the lane and heads right for me.....He ends up at SEVEN yards....nothin between us but good clean air......The kind of stuff we bowhunters live for!!!!!
I slid the Bear to full draw and only remember to stay away from that shoulder blade. I was surprised to see the green nocturnal take off with the buck. Looked like it went right to the fletch and come to find out at that angle the buzzcut buried into the dirt he just took off and broke it where it came out the bottom of him. I heard one crack back in the timber and come to find out the ol guy went about 100 yards with a great blood trail that is pretty normal with these buzzcuts. To say I was awe struck by his rack and body size would be an understatement.....I wish that all the guys that put in the time and hunt big whitetails get to feel that feeling of putting there hands on a mature buck! Its what keeps us going thru the rest of the year.
Couple views of the rack in daylight
