Good luck HUNT! Can't wait to follow along.
Goodluck Hunt! Please give us plenty of details as its a 13 year draw unit so you don't have to worry about non-residents flooding the unit! LOL. This should be another bowsite classic! Mike
My work productivity continues to decline. . . I will be checking for updates more frequently than I should. Go get 'em.
Best of luck, HUNT! Them goats are in trouble!
...and thanks for taking us along!
Good luck and stay safe, Hunter. I too will not roll the dice with the weather and will be packing into my unit on the 3rd.
Good luck! Wish i was there!
The hook is set, get ready to reel! I'm sure you'll bring us back some outstanding photos; trophies included. Now you're making us Bowsiters share the "burden" of the anticipation. Good luck Hunt.

Good luck x10 Hunt, your dedication will pay big dividends!
Awesome. Looks like great country, great bow set up as well. You are dialed. Good luck, have fun and be safe. Look forward to hearing about your hunt. Thanks for sharing.
I have no doubt the hunt will be a success. I'm glad I'm not one of those goats! Hammertime!!!
13 years to draw, it will probably take him 13 minutes to kill a monster. My money is on hunt man. Best of luck to you and enjoy the whole experience.
Vegas has Hunt ahead of the goats, with 15 to 1 odds.
This will really be enjoyable...thanks!
Hoping for death today HUNT!
From Hunter a few mins ago...
"Found a good one on sat put him to bed. Cant find him 2 day."
Go get him Hunt!! Good Luck!
Friday aug 30th. Travel day. Drove 330 miles to the trailhead.
Sat Aug 31st. 8 mile 4 wheeler ride in and one last gear check.HUNT
Working our way to the top. 3 hrs in and gaining elevation. HUNT
Top off our tanks before we head in. HUNT
Once we top out. The first thing i see is 2 horses. Dam it. We talk and they say there are 3 more guys up top. Disappointed i head farther in.
So down and down and then back up we go. My sherpa is wearing out. HUNT
Makind my way up to where i had seen a billy scouting and pop out in this basin. And there he is. HUNT
I back off and watch him just being a goat. He will get up and feed and lay back down every 2-3 hrs. He is in a great spot. HUNT
We cook dinner and hang out. Spirits are high and we can't wait till the am.
He gets up to feed him self. HUNT
I see the 3 guys i left up top glassing down towards the goat. I tell Rog at least they want beat us to him in the morning. The goat beds down and it gets dark.
I back down the hill find a flat spot. Those are hard to come by in goat country. HUNT
Morning comes after a restless night of sleep. We glass the bowl he was in at dark and nothing. HUNT
Where did he go. He must be up top. So up we go. More of the story after work. Got make some Goat money:) HUNT
Keep it coming. Love the country goats live in!
Fabulous so far hunt! Mike
Goat gas money or Goat taxi money?
Excited to see the rest.
Love the pics man! Keep er' comin'!
Gotta love pics from goat country...
Awesome start, can't wait for more!
Right on Hunter! Looking forward to seeing a big Billy!
So we move to the top and nothing. So up and over the otherside. HUNT
Nothing there either. While I was glass up top i see the 3 guys from yesterday making there way up the drainage. I head down and we talk. Small world and I know 2 out of the 3 guys. They say we where here first, so it ours. We glass some goats a ways off and they head that way.
We head up to look in a diffrent drainage. HUNT
Great looking country, but not a critter to be found. HUNT
So we head to camp and make a plan for the AM. We plan to get up check for the billy and then head to another spot. HUNT
We get up and its light out. I tell roger i am going to glass for the billy and get the food bag. I glass and nothing. So I head up to the food and there 20 feet from the food is a GRIZ! Oh Shit. I back up and yell HEY BEAR! He turns looks at me and runs down the hill> I Yell at Rog and said BEAR. He said he looked up toothbrush in his mouth at a Griz running bye at 15 feet. Wow!I run down we talk about it and laugh. I looked at Rog and said " Skin that one Rog and I'll get you another one! Heading back on the 13th Thanks for following along. HUNT
Can't wait for the rest, and good luck! I have no doubt with you.
You gotta a cool adventure going here. Hope to hear more and best of luck to you.
Good stuff here! Good luck on the next "leg"!
Thanks for sharing Hunt! Great pics. Can't wait for more updates!

Awesome... can't wait. Ed F
Outstanding! Fun thread to hang with. It goes without saying we're all pulling for you. Good luck.
Hunt - What unit is your tag in? Good luck.
Those pictures look strikingly similar to the unit I killed my goat in.
Good luck when you get back up there Hunt. I passed this goat on opening day. Needs some more hair.
Keep us posted Hunt, looks like you are having a great time!
Just found this, glad I'm in time. Good Luck to ya Hunt. Go get em!
Bill V.
Update?! This is awesome!
Great pics, HUNT! Beautiful country.
"Skin that one Rog and I'll get you another one!" lmao classic!
Round 2. Gear and food is packed. Have a little more time for this trip. 16 Days:). Driving over friday after work and hiking in Sat Morning. If we kill a goat then on to elk. I will update when i can . Thanks for tagging along. HUNT
Good luck, HUNT. I'm headed to Wyo tomorrow. Looking forward to reading the success story when I get back in a couple weeks.
I can't wait to follow this! Good luck man.
Good Luck Hunt! Definitely following this one.
Good luck! I have been looking forward to the rest of this hunt!
Getm brotha. Lookin forward to lots of pix!
Hunt,
are you in off the boulder river? seems like that area is familiar to me.
I really am enjoying following your DYI hunt, good luck with closing the deal.
Good luck David. (grin) I hadn't clicked on this thread until I noticed it was a Montana goat hunt. Who else but YOU. 16 days should do it man. Be safe and keep us posted brother.
Hunter just texted me. He said that its raining like crazy up there, still quite a few others out there hunting. He's been in the tent for 16 hours so far due to the weather BUT he has a good goat in the spotter a long ways off.
Time will tell and at this point, time is on his side!
I can't wait to read and see how this turns out! Mike
Stefanie and I just sat down to eat some lunch and my phone rings. It's Hunt calling... I'm thinking this is weird!
Anyhow they were glassing the goat a long ways off, then found another one a bit closer. All of a sudden Rog starts freaking out! Tripod, the goat from opening weekend pops out of the timber much closer than the others.
Hunt is off making a stalk now. Hope this turns out well. He was stoked on the phone. Good stuff!
Cool!
This is about as "semi-live" as it gets!
Any word on how things went?
I haven't heard anything since the last update! Waiting patiently as well.
Just heard from Hunt. He said the weather is getting better compared to the last few days.
He also said "you think spot and stalk pronghorn is tough, try doing it on 40ft cliffs!" ;)
He just stalked a huge nanny, got to 105 and just needed to clear a 50-60 yard opening for a shot. She spotted him and took off to Wyoming.
He's been seeing several goats so that's a good thing.
Go Hunt go....You will get this done!
Mark
Prolly too busy packing a big billy off the mountain...we hope.
Man, I really look forward to when I scroll down and see the thread owners name with fresh updates!
I been looking at my card statement for 900 number charges.... his hasn't shown up yet..... =D
Friday Sept 13th. Travel day. It is raining hard and we decide to get a room and put all are gear together in the dry. Not my pic looks like I got Extremed
Sat morning we head in. It is clearing up but still wet and cloudy. Heres a pic of the trail.
We make it to the top and it starts to rain again. So in the tent we go. HUNT
You and extrem pred working on the 75 species slamma?
Sunday Sept 15th. This is one of my favorite days of the year. Its raining still but trying to clear up. We have been in the tent for 16 hours and ready to get out. HUNT
We head up to a glassing point and go to work. We find goats right away but long ways off. HUNT
After a couple hours we find a billy and try to make a plan. He is 3 mountains over and a good days hike. I am looking at the map when Roger starts to freak out.Theres a F---ing Mnt goat right there he says. Its the billy from opening day. He is alot closer but not in a good spot. So we watch and wait. HUNT
Its about 1pm and he beds just above the trees and to the left of the big crag in the middle of the pic. HUNT
Now that is some rough looking country!
So at 330 he gets up and moves over the top where we cant see him. Rog asked me what i wanted to do? I said lets go. 1000 feet down to camp.Break it down then 1500 feet down the trail. At the trail 1.3 miles and then back up 2500 feet. We are both pushing to our limits and 2 hours and 35 mins later i am 134 yards from where i last saw him.HUNT
Its 625 and we have a little over a hour of light left. I tell Roger i want to move. I stand up and there he is above me. He hears something and comes to investigate. He steps up on a rock broadside at 67 steep uphill. I draw back put my 60 on his heart and level up. This is what it all comes down to. At the release the arrow sails over his back. He doesnt move. I panic and take 1o yards off. Whack right in to the rock below him. He takes off and i follow. I get myself in a Scary spot and have to crawl hand and knees to get back to a safe place. Scared Sad and disappointed we climb back down to camp in the RAIN.
Monday breaks clear and sunny. We find him right away but he has moved to the cliffs. So we watch and wait and wait and wait. I crawl in to 178 and have the rifle but decide to pass.
While watching him I see a goat making its way into the bowl we are in. I can tell its a Nanny. But she is a big one and solo. I grab my bow and jog a semi circle around and above her. At 110 i have to make it across a ten foot wide open strip. She sees me and runs 2 mountains overs. Lesson learned Dont let them see ya. I head back to camp. My sherpa has a fire going HUNT
Monday night it starts to rain and rain some more. Tuesday at 12:30 its still raining.
It stops raining and we get out to stretch and not have to listen to the rain hit the tent. the clouds lift and theres a different billy 300 yards from the tent. I head that way fast. I have to cross this avalanche chute and it is scary. HUNT
While crossing the chute i look down and see this. A huge piece of petrified wood. No telling how old this is? HUNT
While crossing the chute i look down and see this. A huge piece of petrified wood. No telling how old this is? HUNT
The fog is rolling in and out. I have to go down a slide and then back up the other side. I am crawling hands and knees . I see the goat and close in. He is in a cliff band with a wide open chute between us. I get to 141 yards and watch him. I Have both my bow and rifle. I cant get any closer so 2 hours go bye it raining and blowing. He stands up and i go into auto pilot. Grab the gun and get ready. Bang and nothing WTF. So Bang again and nothing so bang, bang and bang. I cant even scary this goat with the Gun. Its way off and the goat gets up and walks away. I cant believe it. I cry and head back to camp in the rain.
Locals use to put my dad on bad ole gobblers that no body could kill and then they would root for the turkey to beat him. Anybody rooting for the goat.
Its raining hard again. We have to cook in the tent for 2 nights in a row. The thunder sounds like it is inside you and lighting is all around us. HUNT
TBM-Nope. Turkeys are like fly sh!t, they are everywhere.
Mt goats and the tag to kill them, they are special and once in a life time for many hunters.
So it rains and blows all night. When we get up it is socked in. We decide to break down camp head out and dry out.
Its a 6 hour hike in some miserable condtoins. Rain Snow, wind, mud and 70 pound pack. You have got to love it. HUNT
Then the snow starts. We make it out cold and wet. Home now drying out. Going Elk hunting for a few days and then back for round 3. This could end up in a 12 round knock down drag out so bare with me. Thanks for following along . Hope you guys are enjoying it half as much as I am. HUNT
I am defintely enjoying this HUNT! Like is good when you are taking a break by hunting for elk!
Wow! This is awesome please stay after him!
I am looking forward to the next round. Every thing happens for a reason. I see a bow killed Billy in your future. Good luck
Sounds like an adventure. Love it. Good luck elk hunting, and then get back after the goats. Persistance will pay off.
Can't wait for round 3. I hate to say it Hunt but I am glad you missed with the rifle. Sorry. Good luck I hope you get that sucker!
Sounds more like Alaska in October weather. Good luck on the rest of your hunt.
You are aptly named. And you've got a lot of it in you! Damn impressive. Be safe up there! Dave
This is a lot better than if youda killed on the first day...I bet the heater felt good in the truck.
Awesome read! I agree with LC, your name says it all!
Best of luck!
Here's to hoping you get a break from the weather. That's got to be frustrating beyond belief!
Keep at it and be safe.
This is a lot better than if youda killed on the first day...I bet the heater felt good in the truck.
Sincere thanks for taking the time to post text and pics...
Rooting for ya Hunt. I HATE rain! The older I get the more I despise it too. But with a goat tag what do you do right.... gotta give it your all.
Good luck with the elk. Do you plan to pack one out for some well needed rest? lol
And no... we're not bored. This is a bow junkies version of reality tv.... keep the posts coming please good, bad or ugly, like that 2nd to last pic. ha ha
His fingernails are white in that pic MP.... need some oxygen in that blood son.... =D
Thanks for bringin' us along Hunt. It's been an epic adventure so far, on this end anyway. Hope the elk will take your mind off those goats so you can start back on em fresh.
But something tells me maybe not....=D
They ain't even rolled that fat lady into the building yet....
Hunt, There is a reason you missed with the rifle....destiny!
You got him on round 3!
Mark
Badass hunt! rugged just like it should be. And guys say Mtn goats are easy "you can just walk right up on them". Haha
Can wait till round 3
Good luck Hunter! It will happen.
"This is a bow junkies version of reality tv...."
MP, that made me smile sir.....could not have been said any better! :)
I can see it as a series on A & E...
"GOAT DYNASTY!"
LOL Who's gonna play Si? :)
Hunt, got complete faith in you man! That goat has no idea how close he came to a stone cold killa!
Cool beans! Thanks for taking us along.
Epic adventure and country you hunt in! I too think that something would be missing if you would tag a goat with a gun... Go get them!
Janez
If anyone can do this it's you Hunt! Good Luck and stay safe! Just like you I think we're all in this for the long haul :)
Well its just one of those years so far. Had a stick save the life of a nice 6 point sat. Oh well. Weather is going to be shitty till thursday night,. Heading in on Friday for round 3. Thanks for all the encouragement. HUNT
Best of luck!!! Get it done!
Wow! Great story and love the updates.
Good Luck!!
....just a matter of time, hope you're enjoying the ride as much as we are.
Wow, be careful if you're heading in this weekend. The snow depths they're forecasting in my area (up to 2 feet) may well end my goat season.
Keep at it Hunt, this is awesome Thanks for taking us along.
You may not want to hear this but, "maybe your just not suppose to take it with a rifle"
Good Luck .
Bill V.
Awesome story. Glad to be along for the ride!
It sounds like you are learning a lot about goat hunting. Put it all together, you can make it happen. Bob
snows a coming buddy, having hiked those peaks myself I can attest that they aren't where you want to be when the weather comes in. be careful out there!
michael
Well, Looks like mother nature is going to win round 3. Up to 2 feet of snow and blowing 35-40 is the forecast. Going to bag it and hope it breaks sunny and clear next week. It could be over for good if the weather continues. Thanks for following along . HUNT
NO.....!!!! I don't want this to be over!
Yeah Hunt I saw some pics of the Skalkaho area. 7 inches of WET snow. Just miserable.
Time for a safety meeting and hit it when things ease up a little. Patience grasshopper. I have all the faith in the world. Hell I'm not even tired yet... of this thread that is.
If all else fails... rent a horse or two and save your legs for when you really need them. Good luck.
Very cool so far... can't wait for the finale... Ed F
...just adding to the memories of after you get him killed.
Any update as to when you will be going up again?
Get a snowmobile and snowshoes and head up Box Canyon.
Well mother nature is a bitch sometimes. Goat country was snowed out so i headed to elk country. This is what it looked like. HUNT
With snow like that in elk camp i can only image what was at 10,000 feet. We had had enough of the weather and headed home early to deer hunt. We drive 350 miles home at night and get to my house at 1am.
Well somethings just happen for a reason. This bull showed up in my deer spot with 15 cows. He thought he had it made in the low lands with all the ladies. Little did he know Hunt was hiding in the bushes. 35 yard shot and a couple more just because and he was mine.HUNT
Wow after 4 chances at bulls in a week and the good Lord puts one in my lap. I was in shock for 2 days. Loaded him up whole in my 93 toyota pickup. My first truck. Got love that. Back to Goats this weekend. HUNT
Gotta love an entire bull in your garage!
Bull walks out in front of your treestand. Shoot. Bull dies. Go talk to landowner. Drive out with 3 buddies. Loaded. Take home. Skin. Quarter. Drink a bottle of makers mark and laugh. How do you like me Know:) HUNT
Hahahahaha good for you Hunt, good for you. Mike
Congrats Hunt! Good things always seem to happen when we burn shoe leather (or stand time)!
Mark
LOL! Congrats!
Sometimes... oh well, gotta love it when a plan comes together...
A bowsite buddy and I were swapping stories about pack-outs and he told me about an AZ hunt where his partner hurt himself pretty good on the pack-out. He picked up a quarter and when he turned with it he hit his head on the swing-out tire carrier on the Jeep....
I don't think I've had any under a 1/2 mile, uphill, both ways...
Keep it goin' Hunt, yur on a roll!
Does the snow push the goats down lower at all? I know it sure makes em tougher to spot....
Just Hunt bro...ain't nothing to it
Congrats Hunt!! Smacked him with the ol' AR... Remember when that thing got Ben in the shop that day ?
^^^Don't know what the video is about ...
Ha congrats hunt. How do ya think he likes ya know??
Awesome Bull Hunt, congrats! We like you fine "know"!
Keep us posted when your going back for sheeps...I could use a pressure washer, folding table, treestands, welding machine, storage containers.....you can keep the garbage bag full of dirty women's underwear...I ain't into that. Nice elk by the way.
Sweet job! He was smiling on you that day huh?
GREAT BULL HUNT.......CONGRATS!!! Now get back to the goats! :) Kidding.....enjoy your success and your hangover after a whole bottle of makers mark.
Nice Bull, Hunt!!
Gotta love loading it whole in the pickup. The elk that broke my dry streak about 10 years ago I shot on the top of a cut bank and slid it whole into the back of the pickup by myself.
When are you back after the goats??
Congratulations HUNT! I am sure you will be telling your kids about that one for years. Lol
Lol, yeah, what's up with that Hunt? Avalanches are just snow. ;)
Awesome bull HUNT!! Congrats on another trophy.
I'm CR, how do ya Core4 me know!!
The hunt ain't over. He's heading back this week and Ol Mook gets in next week for round 4 if needed!
Great story Hunt, have done a couple goat hunts in MT and I know goats become an addiction. My favorite animal to hunt. Have to post a pic of a young billy we got within bow-range, but passed on. Was cold and he was nicely haired out.
I didn't bag the goat. Just bagged one one weekend and yes because of Snow. Going back friday night. Weather just want give me a break. Calling for 12-18 inches on thursday at 8000 feet. Will do whatever i can to get back in there. Snow shoes, skis or a sled. Maybe Bowsite can get a helicopter fund going:) Thanks for following along. HUNT
Lol, we can have you flown to the top and you can just ski/hunt from the top down. I'd bring the longbow so you can shoot while you ski.
I'd suggest practicing before you head out. Maybe Nick can pull you behind his truck on a skateboard while you shoot at hay bales along side the road. Just so you get the "feel for it.
Caddis, are you suggesting we haven't already been doing that :)
Congrats on the dandy bull HUNTMAN !!!
Looking forward to seeing the pics of your goat :)
Cheers, Pete
Hope the weather breaks! A goat would be white icing to an already great season
Ha, just as I suspected. I'll volunteer to drive as long as I get to take a turn too.
Caddis, I'll pick you up on my way next week!
Alright it's Friday; quit being a p...wussy and bring us a goat Hunter!!
Great you got your bull, and please tell me you made NIck help load that thing.
Love the garage pic...how about putting whole mountain goat in the exact same spot.
...and at least that much snow should make it easier to slide the billie down the mountain, grab a horn in each hand and take off.
Don't know you well enough to like you now, but I sure as heck envy you know.
Well i wish I had good news, But I dont. Weather keep me out once again. The storm that moved into the Dakotas, Started in se MT and Ne Wy. 2 feet at the trailhead . Stayed home got my house ready for winter and made my sponsor happy. AKA the wife. Got a snowmobile lined out and am watching the weather. Thanks for all the support. HUNT
Had to get in at least one hunt for the weekend:) Went to call for Roger and had a cow come in so I filled my Archery cow tag. HUNT
Nice face paint! Looks like ya dipped your head in a bucket of green paint! lol All joking aside, congrats on your season and thanks for bringing us this hunt. Great stuff
Wrong pic. All cows look the same:) Well freezer is full . Waiting on the weather. Looks like Nick is going Goat hunting.Heres the pic I think .HUNT
Well you are killing stuff at least! Sponsor... ;^) Stay persistent man, and good luck to you.
Strait slaying things like always!
When you gonna get back to the goat?
Awesome thread....little bit of everything and very entertaining. You da man HUNT!
Thanks again for keeping us up to date....
Be careful, but I promise you that NO matter where you shoot one, our friend, Nick, can get it off the mountain for you!
Right Nick?
This buck met his demise this morning here in Montana. He came through chasing a doe and i shot him at 23 yards. 70 yards later he was mine. Thanks for everything Hunt!
This is how they roll in Montana!
Big Horn sheep right off the road.
Nicely done Nick!
The "car top boat" pic is a classic!
Mark
great thread, both the story and pictures. I enjoyed it
Uh....400 to one?? The real question is why are you in Canada and not helping Hunt pack out a goat??
Round 4. Warning Rifle round. 10-17 to the trailhead.
6 hour hike in 12 to 30 inch of snow. We get to the top and make camp. We have the Kifaru tepee and stove. It was a life saver on a hunt like this. HUNT
At the top we make a plan. Andy stays to set up the tent and Me and Nate posthole up to a glassing spot. HUNT
We start to glass. I am on the spotter and Nate has his 15/56 on the tripod. The 15s on the tripod are the only way to go. Nate finds a track and it leads to a goat. Its 4 pm so we watch and make a plan. HUNT
The goats have the advantage now or Know. Here he is . Right side of the cliff band below the 2 big rocks. Can you see him? HUNT
We head back to camp. Andy has the tent ready. We crawl in as the moon comes up. HUNT
We get up and start hiking in the dark. Make to the ridge across from the goat at 10.30. HUNT
We glass and glass some more. No goats just a few sheep. We break up and at noon i hear a cow call from Andy. He found 4 goats and there a stud billy in the group. They can go any way but down and I have a shot. HUNT
Well they go to the bottom. Thats the way its going for me. Here is my WTF face. HUNT
We make are way down to find there tracks. If you ever do a Mnt hunt in the winter BUY a pair of Crampons. They can save your life. HUNT
crampons are a must in the mountains they are noisy but well worth it
We follow the tracks in the timber. ya goats in the timber. It 5 pm and I make the call to head back to camp. I am in the lead and come up to the trail and there a track in trail. Is it a goat or another hunter. Nope its a Griz. he is following are tracks and its getting dark, HUNT
We walk in the dark back to camp. We are let down beat down and just plain whipped. We get to camp at 930 and it starts to snow. it snows all night and we wake up to this. HUNT
We put on the snowshoes and pack up camp. We plan to head down and get out of the weather to glass. HUNT
We take off and its snowing sideways. 3 feet of snow and coming on down. This hunt could not have happened with out my Two good friends Andy and Nate. Thanks guys. Here they are snowshoeing down the mountain. HUNT
We get out of the weather and start a fire to glass. HUNT
Looks like a rough hunt...rougher than a re-capped corncob.
After glassing for 3 hours and nothing we head to the truck. Until next time. HUNT.
some great looking country !!!
What an epic hunt. I am pulling for you hunt. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a rough hunt...rougher than a re-capped corncob.
Great read and photos...hang with it.
Your as tough as they come Hunt. What an incredible adventure-pulling for you man. Each day is one day closer to your goal. Keep at it!
These pictures are incredible. That's some serious effort - awesome.
Dude, amazing... You told me Epic on the phone this morning and these pictures truly depict just that! It will happen!
Thought of you guys when I snapped this pic over the weekend!
Get 'em HUNT! You got this, just adding to the memories!
Nice effort! Goat hunting is the toughest hunt I've ever done by far. For those guys that have never done a goat hunt, it's epic, it's painful, it's beautiful. Goodluck and above all else be safe. Mike
Outstanding pics! Your persistence is gonna pay off. Can't wait to see the hero shot.
Good luck Hunt, I know you will prevail.
Hunt, how much time do you have left? Will you be able to get back on them with all the snow??
Great thread!
Good luck!!!!
Rick M
Dang hunt. Brutal snow. Hope you find them.
So glad I happened across this thead. Go get 'em!
Wow, brutal hunt! Way to stay after 'em, HUNT, you're a beast!
Nick, will they move into a more accessible area as the snow builds up?
Great post Hunt Man. I'm pulling for ya. Its not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when". Keep at it.
Good luck!
The harder you hunt, the "luckier" you become. With your persistence, I have no doubt you will make it happen.
Unreal.....you're one tough dude! Love the pics and story.....best of luck next time you get back after em.
Man, you are hardcore. Was this your last stab at it or are you going to give it another try?
wow, what a tough hunt! it will make the harvest that much sweeter!!
Hang in there Hunt. Way to keep after em. Thanks for taking us along.
This has been an amazing adventure to follow. I hope you get a good Chinook and can do round 5!
Congrats Stacy !!!
Huntman, If you keep up this adventure, We're gonna have to re-name you. Maybe something like: Bustaman, Bustahunt or Huntarib.
Referrence Bustarib, I don't think Chris will mind.

Don't recall an animal more well earned. Pre-congrats.
He is probably carrying it 27 miles uphill in 3 feet of snow in one night. You are the man HUNT!
nice going stacy and elkman
Congrats! You certainly earned it. Looking forward to the story and pics.
Round 5. Warning Rifle round. The weather had broke during the week and High pressure had moved in. I took friday off of work. I pick up Andy at 5pm thursday and we got to the trailhead at 130am. We decide to drive the 4 wheeler to the end of the road. We get there at 230 make camp and crash till 530. HUNT
We start hiking in the dark. Soon the sun comes up and its going to be a beautiful day. The snow is ok about every 4 steps you break through. HUNT
We get to the top at 930.We eat a snack and go to glassing. There are old tracks all around but no goats. HUNT
We plan to glass until 11 and then head to down to the ridge the goats where on last weekend. I ask Andy what time it is and its 11;15. I said its sunny and warm here lets give it another hour. After 3 hours of glassing the same face I spot a goat bedded. We are pumped and make a quick plan.
We have to drop down a 1000 feet and then head back up. On the way down we keep a eye on the goat. We make to the bottom at 200pm.We watch and try to find a path up to the goat.we pick a avalanche chute and head that way. Its north facing and has 3 feet of powder. HUNT
Up we go. Losing sight of the goat because of the hill and trees. We find a clearing about 3/4 of the way up. I find the goat right a way and get a range. I lay down on my pack and get the gun ready. It takes 15 mins for me to calm down. I think i am ready and tell Andy fire in the hole. Bang. High left Andy says. I take off 50 yards on the scope and make good on the 2nd shot. the goat stand up and i give it 2 more. It then jumps Off a 100 foot cliff bounces twice and off a 300 foot cliff into 4 feet of snow. I am bummed and think my trophy is going to be all broke up. We head that way. HUNT
I head up to the goat first. My emotions are running high. I grew up in Georgia hunting anything i could. Now i am walking up on a Mountain Goat. I can't believe it. I wish i could have made it happen with my bow, but I would not trade this hunt for any other hunt. I spent 21 days in the wilderness. I have sweated laugh, cried and gave it all i had. HUNT
I get there and take it all in. The head is buried in the snow. I can't bring myself to pull it out. Andy gets up to me. He starts to did it out and nothing is broke. Wow. I thank the good Lord and the goat. HUNT
This hunt couldn't have happened with out some great friends. Thanks Andy, Nate and Roger for taking time away from your families to hang out with me in the woods. I owe you guys big. HUNT
We take some Photos and then take the goat down the chute to some flatter ground.
Andy taking the goat down the Mountain. HUNT
At the bottom we take a couple more pics. HUNT
I still cant believe it finnaly happened.HUNT
We start a fire. I put a new blade in the havlon and turn on some Waylon on the Ipod and we go to work. My head is on a swivel looking for a bear. After a couple hours we are ready to load up. HUNT
We head over to where we dropped our camp. We make a fire. Eat as much food as we can and load up the packs. I am well over a 100 pound pack now. We plan to make it to the pass and camp for the night.
We make it to the top at 11.00 pm. We are whipped. We have done 11 miles and 7000 feet elvation drop and gain. We make camp dry off and crash.
Epic - very inspiring hunt. Congratulations on getting it done.
We wake up after a good nights sleep. Start a welcome fire and have breakfast. 4.5 miles mostly down hill. We loaded up and take one last pic up top. HUNT
A welcome water break on the way down. HUNT

Wow, great story, great adventure.
A lifetime of memories right there. Good for you!
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Congrats! You earned that one!!!
You definitely earned your goat. Congrats and thanks for the pictures and posts about your hunt.
Badass! Took some guts to pull this one off. I too wish you would have succeeded with the bow, but being able to potentially get multiple stalks in those conditions was surely near impossible. Thanks for keeping at it and bringing it to us in short order. I guess you probably didn't have much choice if you wanted to keep us interested, after Nick spoiled the ending.
HUNT great efforts and great results. You are inspiring.
Julius
All that and you take a nanny? congrats I guess.
Congratulations. What an adventure, and a beautiful trophy!
sweet! thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures and stories to bring us along.

Hey hunt, you get the mount done yet???
Yea Baby! This is a Bowsite Alltime Classic!
Mark
Awesome story, cant believe I've missed this one! How long did it take you to draw the tag? Ive been putting in for a couple years now so I don't think I'm in any danger of drawing one yet.
I had to go back and re-read this one again. It just gets better every time I read it.
Hunt, just read this from start to finish.
I am not quite sure why my back hurts, my legs hurt, my arms hurt and I am really tired and sore and lost 20 pounds.
Maybe I just followed along too close.
Great adventure and presentation.
My best, Paul
Congrats on the hunt and love the way you lay out the pics and story.
Lets see that taxi work!
Great read!
Here you go Irishman. Enjoy the tag. Hunt

The pictures are gone when looking on my phone, which really really really really sucks. Are they still there if you look on an actual computer?
Only some of the pics show up for me. This is always how the older threads are. Too bad. Its fun to go back and reread them. Specially hunts like this. Irishman....you are in for an adventure. Good luck to you good sir and post up when your done!
Thanks SBH. I'll make a point of posting. Should be a great season.
