I was fortunate enough to spend last week hunting on "The Rock". Took this great Woodland Caribou on my first afternoon of hunting. I hunted moose the rest of the week, but bull sightings were low due to weather and being at the end of the rut. I never had an opportunity at a bull.
I would recommend this hunt to anyone looking for a Woodland Caribou. I booked it thru Mark Buehrer at BSC. My friend Kyle also took a great caribou on day 4. He now has all 5 caribou. Congrats buddy!
For those of you interested in score, he grossed 291" and netted 280" green.
Beautiful animal. Congrats!
Great bulls, love those dark horns. It looks pretty open there, it must have been difficult stalking. How were the numbers and size of caribou?
I think this is your friends central Barren Bou, from an outfitter we are looking to go with.
Congrats super looking bull!
Congrats Lenny it's freakin huge! Hope your family is well. Mike
Right on Lenny... I knew you'd do well. Congrats buddy. Ed F
Great lookin' bulls...er.....stags!!
Great stag!!! That is one of the most beautiful sets of antlers I have seen on a woodland, congrats....
Thanks guys for all your comments. I'll try to post some more pictures later for the area I was hunting.
Lenny
Drop tine- It is open where I was hunting, at least up high, but there is more topography there than the picture shows. I think the herd is starting to do a little better. That is what the locals were saying anyway.
Scott- That is Kyle's CBG caribou. PM me if you want more info.
Matt- I agree. I love the antlers. I can't wait for them to be home in Texas.
Hey Lenny those are awesome stags. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!
Great bou, congrats to both of you.
Tuckamore. Fun to walk through....not. This photo shows what the weather looked like for half of the trip.
Great looking caribou... congratulations!
Bomber Stags for sure! After the Whitie my favorite specie to bow hunt! Love those Woodys! Congrats!
awesome bulls. Congrats on a great trophy
Very nice! Congrats. I hunted them 3 years ago, but never saw many. Did see a couple of nice bulls and they were beauties. I went beginning September and would not go that time again. You hunted with Ray's? I really want to return. Loved the Rock.
bigkev42-
Yes, we hunted with Ray's. They were really rutting hard when we were there. Getting close was not a problem.
Congrats!! Whats the cost if you don't mind?
her names michelle and did not want to post because of rifle kill!
Southpaw, That's a great Woodland, thanks for posting. Congrats to Michelle.
Tradmt, I sent you a PM.
Thanks for all the comments everyone. I'll try to post some other pictures later. Kyle sent me some great pics of bulls he passed on.
Broken bez bull. Kyle passed this bull on the first day, but he was tempted. How many of you would have shot him?
I would have-love the character :)
A second arrow released here!
Mark
Nice Lwood. If you don't mind me asking what kind of boots did you wear?. Heading up there also for a hunt booked with Mark. Thanks doc
I'm not Lenny, but I'm his friend! Lol, PM him to get a response but most NFL hunters wear Muck boots or some type of neoprene knee high boot. It's very wet and spongy terrain. Goodluck, Mike
Come on Mike, NFL hunters wear cleats!
I will be up there Sept 21-28th. And will be wearing Muck boots
Booked with Mark at BSC. Got in on this stag on the first day. Flagged him in. 40 yard shot.
Forgot to mention, I wore Irish Setter boots and punched a hole through them in the first hour some Tuckamore. Would recommend Lacrosse since that's what all the guides used and they had no holes in their boots.
I wore Lacrosse Alpha Burleys
Always a good time when you get a chance to hunt Royal Newfoundland. Also the food and rum is pretty good too.
