Turkey

Sorry for the gun in the photo but I can assure you this was not a gun kill.
It's good to know that if things go bad and the turkey charges me, my 6 year old has my back with his daisy.
Fun hunt but my decoys did take a beating from the bb's
Great back up gun, did you need it?
They can be mean if they are wounded.

Awesome photos! Congrats on the bird, but moreso on a great day with your kids!
Good stuff! Some future hunters there for sure
Great, ur kids will talk about that day for a long time.. Ed
Turkey's are The Black Death of the United States! Those Dugga Boys are mean and out too getcha ya!!!
;^)))

GREAT. I love to see the young ones hunting. Forrest
Awesome Houska! Looks like not only did you have a great back-up gun, but an excellent gunner. And if some how he failed to stop the onslaught, you had another great back-up for the hand to hand combat. Gotta love getting your kids outdoors!
They are growing up. Congrats. I bet they are hooked for life. HUNT
Too bad they don't look like they're having any fun! LOL!
I usually carry a Glock 20. These Texas turks are the biggest, meanest,.......................
Congrats on the turkey and the family fun !!!
Sad thing is most guys don't ever get to enjoy their family while hunting. Congrats on yer "wing man"! Mike
Behind every great turkey hunter is a 6 year old....with a BB gun.
lol...That's great!
Nice!!! Looking forward to family times outside myself when my daughter grows up! Right on!
One of the best threads in a while...man, that must have been so much fun as a parent.
Did they have to shoot your gobbler just to make sure it was dead?
That is awesome. You oughta let the kids have a little fun though! They look miserable.
Very nice! Congrats on the Tom!
Making some great memories there Matt!
Congrats on the gobbler.
Congratulations... be glad you don't use inflatable decoys!
That is what IT'S all about!
Not what I was expecting when I opened this thread..
Congratulations, what a great experience for you kids.
Awesome!!! Making memories & keeping the kids involved. That family time at its finest!
Expected to see an absurd post by TBM and instead find an absolute gem. Congratulations on a fine bird but even more kudos on raising two young men right. They knew you required protection and willingly provided it. I wish the three of you many years of joyous time afield sharing chilly mornings listening for gobblers, eating smashed sandwiches, laughing at each others antics, smiling often and always protecting each other. Thank you sharing this post with us, it has made my day better. May the wind be in your face..........
thanks for all the positive replies, they do grow fast and may one day even be taller than the bow. Here is a photo from 4 years ago on their 1st turkey hunt.
Congratulations, great photo.
Well done, sir! I was gonna ask how you kept the boys quiet and still up to the big moment with your recurve, but then you showed that they are grizzled old veterns of your turkey hunts.
very cool,,, great!! thanks for sharing!
Good memories there for sure!
Awesome stuff there! I have a few little shavers about that same age. That is the exact stuff I remember vividly growing up hunting with my father and I only hope to give the same to all of mine. Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations. Time spent with outdoors hunting is the best.
However, when I saw the name of this thread I was thinking this must be another TBM thread tall tail about a giant gobbler that threatened to attack him or something.
Congratulations - looks like a great time!
I had never turkey hunted before, and started solely for that reason, to take my oldest son out hunting during a time of year he normally couldn't be out. He was 7 the first year he went and my only regret is that I didn't start sooner. He'll be 9 this year and will be the shooter.
Turkey hunting out of a blind was made for bringing kids along!
"You'll put your eye out!"
That made me laugh out loud. I couldn't count the number of times my mom told me that while my brother and I were decimating the local bird population.
Great thread Houska, nice job with the kids and the birds. Beautiful bow, are those wooden arrows?
The best hunting buddies a guy could have! Who woulda thought that giggling, shhhshing, candy wrapper crunching and more laughter were the best turkey calling inventions out there!?
Always good a have someone "on the gun" in a dangerous game situation just in case. Priceless photo.
"albeit with his 20ga."
Sounds like you're complaining because your kid's not hunting with a bow.
How about "he'll be hunting WITH his 20 gauge."
"you'll put your eye out..." one of the classic lines of TV history.
This is great. After seeing this I think I am going to take me 5 year old out this year.
Awsome job Houska! the kids will remember this their whole life. Nothing better than a Red Ryder back up,lol
Great job Houska. Its very sad that many guys won't sacrifice having their young there with them, for fear they may not fill their tag. But in one way or another you are making a great sacrifice and the biggest sacrifice is if you DON'T take and start your kids when they are young.
And boy do they ever grow up fast.
Here's a photo of my son on an antelope hunt when he was just 5 years old. It hooked him and this June he will turn 32. Unbeilable to me how fast the time has past.
Congrats most of all on taking the young kids with you at that age and also on the turkey!
Keep up the great example to all of us and have a many a more great bow hunts with the kids! BB
Houska: I'm reporting you to Child Welfare Services for child endangerment! You should've given your boys .416 Remingtons as a bare minimum. .458 Lott or .500 NE would've been better!
Very cool! Nice colors on that bird too!
good on you ........... is that one of them er Daisy shotgun?
