I frost seeded a bunch of clover late this winter at my property in southeast Iowa. I mowed very late in the season to produce as much bare ground and reduce thatch. My soil pH is about 6.5-7. Past soil tests in the plot areas indicate an abundance of phosphorous and potassium. Should I add some fertilizer to the plots? Some recommend adding fertilizer to new plots regardless of whether soil tests say the nutrients are ok.

Are you in a sulfur deficient area like we are in most of Wisconsin? If one's got "stunted growth on the legumes", an application of a 9-0-26, which is 1/2 ammounium sulfate x potash, and you will see the benefits that myself and my clients see in this area.....i also believe in using a 9-4-9 w sulfur, boron, micros and with chelated calcium......a great legume booster. For less than $5 an acre!!!!!! Hit the plants up foliar 1-3 times a season and if there is leafhopper, or aphids, it is a great time to apply in unison.
