Just wondering we tried this on are CT site not many young guys. I will be 64 this November .STEVE
53
If you ask my Wife, she will tell you I'm 4
What do you mean no young guys ? I am 43 that's young compared to 64 .
46 And I am in Connecticut too
43. Hunting is an aging demographic. BTW, a fun thread would be to guess age by manner, tone and content quality of member posting. Chronology does not compute. I'm willing to bet our virtual selves shave decades off our actual age. :)
I'll be 51 this Sunday
Hunting since 8 years old (gun) bowhunting since 14 (recurve 1977, to compound 1991 to longbow/recurve again 1995)
To add un-asked for info, I have hunted small game (gray and fox squirrel, cottontail rabbit, groundhog, raccoon, fox/bobcat/coyote, muskrat), whitetail deer, black bear, eastern wild turkey, feral hog, elk (in VA up til recently there was an "elk=deer" rule, and I spent some fruitless but fun hours in Wise County hunting and hoping), upland gamebirds (mourning dove, bobwhite quail, woodcock ruffed grouse, crow, starling, grackle) frogs and rough fish (carp, suckers, etc)
never hunted west of the Mississippi, except hogs in OK once.
Never hunted outside the continental U.S. (that changes in September)
my bucket list is to do both those, and add some western game species, before age 60
Just turned 59 "OUCH!!!!" the other day.
68 in Nov hopefully Lewis
Nick...I have calluses older than you...:0
49 for me...
Did you notice that all the under 30 used their mobile device to reply?
71 I'm leaving for Co. today for a diy elk hunt with my 2 boys.LAST TIME i HUNTED THIS AREA i RAN INTO A 65 YEAR OLD HUNTING WITH HIS 85 YEAR OLD DAD.
54 and feel like 70 some mornings.
I thought I was reliving my child hood for a bit. 41 I turn 42 on sept. 4th while I am elk hunting. Maybe I will get a birthday present this year;)
35
Owl, that's funny I had the same thought. By the way I would have guessed you older than you are by your posts. Must be a wise ol'...owl!
dang...I feel like I've been lurking around the nursing home, not bowsite. :) I'm 31
This thread would have been so much better if we posted trail cam picures of ourselves and asked:
"How old do you think this bowhiunter is?"
A new age version of guess the score!
Turned 59 yesterday! Big bash in Waterville next year!
sorry I'm the ugly one on the left!
hay chip t we share the same birthday. 56 two days ago
Boubound x2
I wouldn't guess rooster a day over 45. I will keep how old I think his daughter is to myself.
66 in three weeks.
But I feel like I did thirty years ago and my Dr. tells me I have the heart and lungs of a twenty-five-year old.
I had a physical last Friday and my blood oxygen was 100%, which is the highest it can be and is very uncommon, even in people half my age, according to my doctor.
39.....A lot of goals to meet before I turn 50. Hopefully I can bank enough points between now and then to draw some tags!
Had my last and final birthday more than a year ago on May 29, when I turned 29. And it's stayin that way.
65 .... but feel 105! .... it SUCKS!
Thanks TBM. My "daughter" Brenda, keeps me young. That's her hog from the 2012 MHH. As a matter of fact I think she shot it on her birthday!
Turn 32 this sept elk hunting, looking for that birthday bull!!
Just turned 30 a couple days ago!
Iv been hunting with my dad and grandad since I got my first BB gun on my 3rd birthday hunted gun for 15 years been bow and gun hunting the last 9
But I'm as old as I will ever be at 25
315 in dog years
What are you talking about, Jack?
51...but I was born premature so I am younger than my age.
Rick that would make you 19!!!!!
54
kyle great news on the check up what was the BP and pulse?
sorry thing are so difficult herm. can't be much fun these days.
67
And I didn't see your age mentioned in your post Bou ? C'mon man...
Well I don't know about you guys, but I'm only 18 still :)
Well you might just have to add 35 to that in Dec though
Cheers, Pete
59 for me. This is a generally older group that I had perceived.
67 last Saturday and been hunting since I was 5!
Sorry Bou, we must have been typing at the same time kid !
62. Been in the woods for 50 of 'em. Fishing, trapping, hunting, working, etc.
It's my life.
Oldest so far, 69, but I live in elk country now and just getting out of bed is considered exercise because of the altitude. Hope to keep doing this for many more.
Terry
Will be 53 at end of September....
29... 98 days till 30 ouch
Bou' bound,
"kyle great news on the check up what was the BP and pulse?"
BP was 120/70. Pulse was 51, which is pretty close to where it always is. I checked my pulse several times during the sheep hunt I did earlier this month. 52-56 every single time.
49
"it's not the age, it's the mileage"
63
I tell my wife I can't always be young, but I can always be immature...........
45 years young and I hope this is around the half way mark of my journey.
A lot of spike bucks on here me 70 and going after elk @ 12-13 k feet I HOPE happy HUNTING TO ALL
55 young to an 80 year old but old to a 20 year old. Sure didn't take long to get here,.
28.
Some of the older ages are no surprise. I bet bs has one of the older ave age members than most other hunting forums. I guess that equals more wisdom (or just more b.s.).
44 TODAY.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME
48...is it bad that I had to think about it for a moment?
60
A couple weeks ago a 60 year old woman reported me to the office for harassing her relatives when fishing without permits. She told them I was a "twenty-something". I got lucky with genetics.
I am 57.
Using the TBM scale, that would make me 88 in Iowa, and 23 in Florida.
;^)
37 leaving for alberta in the morning.
Aaron
I will be 73 in Nov. I joined organized archery in 1956 so 58 years in Archery/Bowhunting. I bowhunted Illinois 1st ever Deer season (1957) took my 1st deer in 1958. I started tourney shooting again 3 years ago after a 30 year layoff (always bowhunted though). I scratched off a bucket list item 2 weeks ago that I didn't think I would ever do. I competed in the NFAA 5 day National outdoor field Championships in Yankton S.D. with hopes of being in the top 10. I met my goals & then some. I'm in the #2 spot. All 50 states & 17 countries were represented.
Age is something that we seem to complain about each day but we still enjoy what we love to do but maybe not as fast as we use too. I live at the foot of the Big Horn Mts. in Wyoming and look out my window everday at them and still hunt them every year and love it. Fast and youg is not always the best way to go as it seems that we have alot of info for our younger generation from the Wensels. I am 57 years young and I would rather starve to death doing what I love and living in Wyoming than anything else. Pick A Spot and enjoy what time we have to do what we love. Dave
40 just in time for the whitetail rut this year...
I'll be celebrating the 27th anniversary of my 29th birthday next month! Never felt better at any age!
I will be 40 in September.
43 with no complaints. I'm glad I've taken care of myself as well as I have.
Currently 53 will be 54 in December!
Kyle your still a spring chicken!
I'm to young to be this old.... 53
On the high side of 55. Hoping to have some venison in the freezer by the time I hit 56 in November.
Ye gads, I finally think I found something on Bowsite that I excel at....I am the oldest at 71!! Feel great, take no medications, be 3 weeks in the mountains elk chasin...and just had my 50th wedding anniversary !! I am a lucky man....
Joe
67 and heading to Colorado next week for my annual solo elk hunt in xxxxx wilderness.
Turning 70 in December.
We'll celebrate our 50th anniversary in Feb next year.
Still hunting and fishing, and looking forward to upcoming season.
72 & still excited to be headed to the mountains
Hard to believe but 58 yrs, where does it go........
62... will turn 63 in October.
52 in September, I'll be in Montana hunting elk on my birthday
70. Will be walking the mts. of NL in six weeks...God willing and the ferry runs!
27. Just goes to show the experience available here.
54 and bowhunting for 40 years. Still don't know what the heck i'm doing.
sorry Wilye, me n slapshot are 72 & I'm 73 Nov.. regardless. I'm sure we could tell some awesome tales around a campfire.
48. Into the second phase of my bowhunting [20 yr gap before I renewed my interest]. I pretty much stumble around and occasionally some critter will run into my arrow.
I forget, I'm older than color tv, older than the internet, older than the caculater, older than the cumputer, older than my wife, yea old enough
I'm 33, my wife says I'm old!
I like to refer to it as 40-16, you know...
48, 49, 40-10, 40-11, 40-12
Actually I've never cared about, or hidden, my age.
Mom died at 36, and I've lost several very good friends from 36 to 55.
I'm ahead of the game.
Last I checked, the average age of a Kansas hunter is 46, and that's not good.
38, feeling like I'm going on 75 though... ;)
--Jim
72; so far this year have taken a 20 inch blond bear and a turkey; looking forward to deer season. Also shoot a lot of 3-D.
I see why we go over and over some subjects...we ain't beating a dead horse...we got alltimers
48 and counting. Sometimes the Wife says I have the mental capacity of a 10 year old, so at least I am young at something.
70 last month. Hunt elk, mulies, w.t., mountain lions all over North America.. Started w.t. Hunting in 1952. Shot first deer in 1956. Hunt at least 90 days per year.
At 55 old enough to know better , i hope , but not to old to learn new stuff.
21. It does surprise me how old the average guy is on here. Already turned a non-hunting friend into a diehard bowhunter and have a junior from a non-hunting family that I've mentored for the last 3 years. There aren't a whole lot of us young guys who want to take kids along for some reason. I wonder how accurate of an age sample this forum is of today's hunters.
55, headed to Wyoming in a few weeks, my 5th state to bowhunt elk! Like others, mornings feel like 75!
50 but never feel that old till I put on a pack and hit the mountains with guys 20 years younger.Bob.
49... you know... the point where you have to hunt smarter instead of harder.
I ain't as good as I once was. But I'm as good once as I ever was.
75. Bought my first hunting license in 1961. Been huntin more years 'than most you been alive!!!
60 and plan on 60 more.....
Pat,
You should take your new scoring feature, and tweak it so we can get the average age of Bowsiters. It would be an interesting (but depressing) fact....as the average is definitely getting older.
The demographic might be useful for your advertisers too....you might be able to start marketing camoflage DEPENDS and matte finished walkers any day !!!
55 today.started bowhunting when I was14.Dad didn't start bowhunting until until I was 21.It was hard to get out and go the first couple years.
Buff... looking at it with what... reading glasses? ha ha
68 Killed first buck in 1959. First bow buck in 1963.
24
With the way people bicker on here I figured the average on here was 16!
33 in October. My third year bowhunting.
64 will be 65 in January...Who ever said these were your Golden Years should be Shot...
I'm just getting to my prime!
48 years old and I must say I enjoy 48 much more than I did 18,28, or 38!
My dad had me bowhunting at age 12 seventh grade
Iv got 2 future bow hunters at home age 7 and 3 both already shooting bows and 22s! If that counts!
Age is just a number. There's Old, Really Old, Really Really Old and Ancient. Past that is Artifact....
Not there yet but I'm closing in on really really old....
Just got back from (among other things) a backpack spot and stalk bear hunt into a wilderness area. (forest fires won....)
At 58 (and a half... granddaughter always adds the "half" to her's.... as well as most of you whitetail guys....) and due to circumstances I really didn't have the time to train like I should have... but did OK. Didn't slow anything up.
Found that although my endurance wasn't what it once was.... recovery time was as good as it ever was..... =D
Like my heroes Paul at the Fort and NYbob I plan on packin' elk into my 70's and beyond. Depending on recovery time.... or just depending on depends.....
Celebrated the 21st anniversary of my 30th birthday in January, but I don't feel a day over 60.
I'm 45 and have been bowhunting with my Dad since 1980. He turned 76 this year. We still hunt together every Fallow rut (in Australia). Now that he's had a back operation and a knee replacement he has slowed down to the perfect speed for still hunting - taking a buck each year for the last 3 seasons. Go Dad!!
69.75 and figure I only have 8 or 10 more years to elk hunt
I'm 43.
Mentally I stopped at about 16, physically I feel about 90.
74 1/2 and kicking ass. Two months ago in the Flat Top Wilderness Area of Colorado. Hiked in 3 miles to fish for Cutthroat trout.
Starting Sept 3, will be elk hunting solo for 3 weeks.
My best, Paul
First off I am really surprised at the "age" of this group. I am 64 and thought I was one of a few "older" guys.
If I was hunting humans for meat I think I'd pass on Paul. That guy would be so tough - just plain inedible.
Hey Adam, My wife claims that I have matured and became much more "tender" over the years.
59 in just 3 more months. Can't hardly wait.
45...my two boys(13&17), can hardly wait for deer season September 1!
