I shoot a DAS Kinetic at about 63 pounds at 29 inches. Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 450 with Eclipse 2 blades for total weight at 650 grains.

A good friend has shot through several elk with his father's 45 year old Wing recurve at 50 pounds with 500 grain arrows tipped with a sharp COC two blade. His bow is well tuned and so is his shot placement! He has inspired me over the years with his commitment to his craft. Shoot straight and good luck!

And To keep with the thread, its the exact same set up as this year; this would make three years in a row using the exact same bow head and arrow... How many of you dull the finish on your bows (bow dull, tape, etc..) before hunting? I never used to, but when I was in Australia being filmed for a TV show I discovered that my bow, with a matte gloss finish, was reflecting the sun like a signal mirror and spooking red deer I never knew could see me otherwise. Now I spray the limbs with brown bow dull before the season.

Lou, I have all my bows made in a flat finish, not glossy or semi glossy. Rob Lee did an excellent job on my last Bob Lee recurve, flat black riser and flat black limbs. And even though snake skins are pretty on a bow, once finished, they sure do shine in the sunlight. Seen too many catch the sun just right and give off glare.

Trouble is I've booked myself in for Africa next year and BC again the following year for bears.
