Going to tell it up front right away, sorry to all the hardcore bow hunter guys on the Forum, but I did not harvest the Ram with my Bow. It was a rifle hunt.
But I;m still proud of the fact that I was able to get such a magnificent animal. The hunt was tough enough and my hats off to all the guys who have taken one with a bow.
I just wanted to share my picture on a great site I love to follow.
Prez
that's a stud whether you used a bow or a bazooka!
Nice ram - rough location.
Congrats again Steve. Beautiful animal, awesome picture , spectacular scenery. Well done
Nice ram - rough location.
Good for you. Splendid ram.
Gun or bow.........it's hard not to get excited for a successful sheep hunter. Enjoyed the pic, congrats
Awesome! Jealous for sure...
Congrats Prez!...Great ram!
ANY legal Dall taken by any legal weapon is a huge accomplishment!...Every mature ram is a magnificent animal!...and most hunts are usually really tough to get through!
Please tell us more about the hunt.
(Most couch potatoes, armchair experts or naysayers will never personally experience what you just did)
Congratulations on a nice ram! Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations, Steve. Welcome to the club!
Synopsis of the hunt. 10 day hunt, lost the first 2 day getting out to weather. Found a group of 3 rams to include the one I took on the first day in the bush. Sat on 3 rams for 2 days due to rain and fog as we were unable to make the stalk. The next day set the alarm early and made it through the timber by first light and headed up the mountain after the group of 3 rams. 5 Hours hike to find the rams had moved farther up the mountain and were bedded on a knoll on one of the outcrops. The immature ram was on the point facing in our direction and the largest ram was quartering away from us.
The closest we could get without being busted was 410 yards, 18 degree angle shooting up. Shooting at the big ram bedded quartering away and all I could see was the top 12 inches of his back as he was just over the knoll he was bedded on. Took my time and made a great 1 shot kill. I could see his legs roll over his body in my scope just after hearing the thud of the bullet impack, then of course the whooping yell of my guide telling me he was down.
The ram actually rolled 1/3 of the way back down the mountain into a shale slide/water fall. Just stopping 4 feet shy of going over another 700 foot fall. Took us another 2 hours to get to where the ram laid to take the picture I posted. I have to say the climb back down was worse than the climb up and tested my ability to stay focused and not to fall to my own death. Having the horns and cape along with my rifle and my gear for the day.
I thank everyone for their kind words and congratulatory references to my accomplishment. This was 10 years of dreaming that finally came true. My wife was the one who took it upon herself to call the outfitter I wanted to go with and book the hunt for me. I thank her the most.
Steve
Very well done! Congrats on a great ram! More details
Mark
Congrats on a great hunt and trophy.
FWIW, and I got to say it, I never will understand why a man would apologize for killing any animal under legal terms with any weapon they decide to use.
Be proud of what you have accomplished my friend. You did it for you and no one else. If you're happy, and you most certainly should be, then I'm tickled for you. God Bless
Congrats! Awesome ram! I am like Florida Mike, having gone last year and came home empty handed. Its a real challenge.
Congrats again on a fine trophy!
Awesome...I was gonna say look like that ram took a rocky ride but look like his head and cape are in good shape.
Great looking character on that ram...
Congratulations on a fine looking ram. Watch out, It gets in your blood.
Jim,
It's too late. He's been infected and as you and I both know, there is no known cure.
OTOH, if he comes to The Sheep Show in Reno, January 8-10, at least he'll be able to meet and chat with fellow addicts.
"Hi. My name's Steve and I'm a Sheepaholic." ;^)
Great stuff! Congratulations.
Very nice! Congrats. My rifle's coming on round 2:)
Congratulations! Wow, just looking at the incline in that pic is making me a bit dizzy. Beautiful country and sheep!
Way to go Prezboys. I decided long ago, that my sheep hunts would be with a rifle. I've since been on 4 rifle sheep hunts and have a Desert and a Dall under my belt. Stone and RM Bighorn booked for next year.
For guys that consistantly get sheep hunts done with a bow: You are awesome.
Beautiful ram...Congrats. Like Jim and Kyle said above...Now you're hooked...This WON'T be your last sheep hunt.
Moderator. ..please remove this thread!
Just kidding...Congratulations on a beauty.
Great Job. What does he measure?

I'll never be sheep hunter unfortunately. I've got a bit of a vertigo issue, and just looking at the slope in that picture makes me dizzy. :0)
