Squirrels are eating the foam out of my treestand seats. How do I stop them without removing the seats each time?

I hope Rayzor was kidding with the rat poison.
I carry in a thermarest butt pad attached to my pack for every sit. Weighs next to nothing and doesn't absorb water.

What about some sort of home made tiny hot wire to shock the little bastards?

Hunt all day. Squirrels aren't active at night.

How about a rubber snake and put on the seat.

Mouse traps or freezer bags.
I would suggest a heavy dose of cayenne pepper, but it might spook the deer.

I will attest that passing gas on your seat will have no effect on it's desirability to squirrels. In fact they might like the added flavor.

Where I hunt most of the time, 80% of the trees are oak So tree rats have been a problem for me also. I tied a bag over the seats and that has worked for me.. Alex's rubber snake trick I may try as that's a lot easier than tying a bag around the seat. Glad it halloween as it's a lot easier to buy a doz snakes this time of year.
Now I have a question on the snakes.. How do I keep the hawks and owls from taking my snakes. :(

Teeton, don't worry about the hawks and owls. If they eat a rubber snake, they will get constipated and won't eat any more. :)

Try wrapping the seat with some chicken wire or wire mesh?

Place one of those plastic owls next to it.

I put a bag over my seat and the squirrels built a neat inside the bag.
I use mostly Big Game Boss XL hangons. They have a nice, comfortable, removable seat. I take it in and out with me because of squirrels and rain.

I believe if you rub raccoon poo all over the seat, everything will avoid it....

I have 3 stands. I think hiring the three bears will work out best!

I do the same as Midwest. I carry a cushion in and out.
No sense in making it comfy for others who might sit my stand.

Real owls and hawks will eat rubber snakes!! I put two 30" rubber snakes out to keep them away from my boat and within 2 days were taken right off the boat cover!

I've tried a few of these ideas but the little tree rats always seem to start chewing on them! I just take my seats out when I'm done with that stand. Kinda sucks to have to put a seat in in the dark but at least it stays dry and doesn't get ruined.
