I guess we all share the same stirring deep in our souls that makes us look forward to the hunting season. I'm 75 now and that deep feeling has not subsided yet and I hope it never does. Still climbing trees and still trying. Be well all and the best of luck.

Been a big fan of Donny's work since he started. Makes about 90% of the hunting shows/videos look like a joke. He's the real deal and his films are second to none!

I will have to see him kill a southern wild turkey before I buy into him being anything other than a good video editor with lots of backing...he does make it look good and gets a lot of mileage out of what he gets...stalked by a pack if wolves...they just looked curious to me...not in stalk mode at all.

Most everyone on tv follows the Johnny Knox protocol for entertainment.... low risk easy stunts with the highest entertainment value. The high risk low entertainment is avoided.
Unfortunately for me and all deep south bowhunters, we spend most all of our time chasing very difficult animals that are low value entertainment. Kind of like the tough sec west that now has 4 out of the top 5 teams and yet only one will represent us in the national league chamoingshop game.

What I'd like to say to all anti hunters is, no matter what you do or say, you'll never be a part of natural world until you actually participate in the natural world. Spectating just doesn't cut it. You will still be an alien in a foreign land.
And while, my kind has the blood of its next meal on our hands, we don't have the razing of the land and eradication of entire populations on our conscience.
Just bought the river's divide,can't wait to see it. I will let you know how it is.

Jim Neaves of Centaur Archery produced a hunting video called Wild Tradition. One of if not the best I have seen. It is highly recommended, regardless of your choice of weapon. You can view a trailer on his web site.

The videography is what makes it great. Absolutely great footage that you can tell they worked hard to get. I love guys who take the time to do it right. It's not easy.
I do have to admit I work in advertising and this is one of the things we do. Break down brand messages to see what works and what doesn't. So don't get all worked up but there were a couple things I think could be improved.
I don't think he's at the same level as Steve Rinella when it comes to explaining why we hunt (not just bowhunt which he tries to address). Matter a fact you take his videography and put Steve Rinella in and you have the perfect video of why we hunt.
He's really good when he discusses why he hunts but when he tries to explain why we hunt as hunters he starts to meander and get lost. I mean he did throw a Thermo-regulate in there somewhere. He also comes off as fairly confrontational when speaking about when a non-hunter confronts him. Again, as a hunter I get it but a non-hunter may scratch their head.
Overall, it's enjoyable and as a hunter I love the footage.
Awesome country they hunted, extremely well documented, and narrated.

I really admire the dedication it takes to produce quality film of this caliber. I'm really glad he's doing it as it's great entertainment.
But I gotta ask, out of pure curiosity... What is his objective? Is he selling these films or making a tv show or DVD for sale? (If so, where can I buy or watch?) What's Sicmanta and what do they do? And who's bankrolling them? Are they selling advertising? We are talking about some serious expense here. I'd love to think that he just does this because he loves it and wants to share his adventures with us out of pure altruism, but I know that's probably not possible or realistic with the costs involved. Just trying to understand the economic interest as this seems like a hell of a lot of very expensive effort. Again, awesome stuff. Some of the best I've seen!

It's about time he came out with a new video. Been promising for a year since the Newfoundland was released. Not sure what the hold up is. They made it sound a year ago like there were a couple ready to go. A Sitka blacktail hunt on Kodak and a grizzly and then nothing for more than a year. What's up

I've got to say I bought "River's Divide"...The cinematography is top notch, but the video isn't great. A little over dramatized IMO and at least in this video, he is still a little bit of an arrow flinger. Still beats most other videos though.
WOW!! No fist pumps, hysterical laughing, stupid ass sayings like BBD,stud buck, or watching some idiot play a practical joke on someone sleeping. Quality and well done video and should be mandatory watching for the TV celebs of how to make a hunting film. Good job to Donny and co. I will watch his videos anytime.
That is the only "TV" show I have ever seen that would watch. I would love to see him get that green lit for a mainstream channel like Discovery or History or the like. Very good work. Could do possibly do a lot to offset all the damage the clowns on the outdoor channel and whatever those other channels are called are doing to our way of life...
I too have both of his videos and have been waiting for the next one. Yes, the 'River's Divide' is a little dramatic but in one respect I can relate to the drama.

I can too, but the drama is almost an over correction. If he cut the amount of dialog in half, his videos might be untouchable. The music during Steve's recovery would be fitting for a funeral procession. Still, I am being very critical and I would take his movies and their style any day and every day over most of the other crap that is out there...but I do love Primos videos too.
