Always great to see a young bowhunter join the ranks!
Good luck Ryan and Scoot!
Looking forward to the updates to your hunt and hopefully a pic with you guys and your 1st deer in it.
Try to learn something every time you go hunting.
There is no such thing as an unsuccessful hunt.
Brian

We're all rooting for you Ryan!
Good luck!!!
Yer gonna freeze yer keister off!
Good stuff, Scoot! Get 'em Ryan
Strawberry Sunkist must be the choice of Ice fishing kids everywhere! That's the first thing my boy goes for at the bait shop when we head out. I think every ice fishing picture with him in it has a red mustache.
looking at the gash on your forehead you must have been using a boomerang arrow. good luck and check your mailbox the next couple of days. GP
Always enjoy your hunts Scoot, looking forward to following this one along. Ryan reminds me of me when I was his age. All American boy right there. Good luck to you guys!
this might be one of the top threads of the year.....good luck to you and Ryan!!
Way to go Scoot! Look forward to following!
Mark

A thread worth something! Thanks as this is refreshing and very enjoyable!
Go get em Ryan! We will be watching this one closely.
Grandma Teri wishes you a good hunt. You had an awful good teacher. Happy Birthday
Good luck Ryan ! Good to see young people excited about the outdoors !
Scoot...I was worried that the scar on Ryan's forehead was from the many times I "beat up" Ryan. Good luck Ryan...I'm pulling for you!
Only 3 more sleeps! Ha! Good luck Ryan!
Good luck Ryan ! Have lots of fun.
Good luck Ryan ! What a great way to start a Thanks giving Day !!!
Good luck guys. Cant wait to follow along. HUNT
Only a couple more days to go Ryan. Best of luck on a successful and fun hunt. Bowsite will be rooting for you.
Awesome thread! Good luck Thursday Ryan! I'm from northern Minnesota too and will be waiting for more pics from you and your Dad. Shoot straight.
God Bless your family and have fun making more great memories together. No pressure to succeed! C
Good luck tomorrow Ryan! I'll be in the stand in the morning as well and will be hoping to see a hero shot when I get back to the house! Go get 'em!
Great thread, and brings back memories of my first hunts with my dad. I guarantee he won't fall asleep easily tonight!
Also makes me look forward to the day when my girls are old enough to join me in the woods!
Best of luck tomorrow!!
It's 5:30am mountain time and this is the first thread I'm checking. Happy Thanksgiving boys and Good Luck!
Happy Birthday Ryan!! I hope you are having good luck out there. For all those reading it is cold today. Really cold. I doubt most grown men would even attempt to hunt today. Knowing Ryan, I have no doubts he is out there, though.
GREAT JOB DAD! The world needs more dads like you.
Good luck to Ryan!
Get them tomorrow Ryan! Supposed to warm up a little! Good luck!
Scott, how did you attach your range finder to your bino harness? I have the same harness and really like the way that set-up looks! Thanks!
Awesome post scoot. Makes me wish I had taken more pictures. My dad was just here for 6 weeks hunting and fishing and I was so busy trying to run a deer past him and put him on fish I never got around to taking pictures. I'll probably regret it. You always have them in your mind but the story you just painted with pictures is awesome. Keep doin what your doin. Time goes by faster than you think. Can't wait to see the boy with his first deer. I was 9 when I killed my first and I can remember it like it was yesterday and that was 38 years ago. And my dad was right beside me. Good work and good luck.
Cool thread Scoot...Tell Ryan this wind stinks for me too. Good Luck!
Awesome better enjoy it when my son turned 16 the girls aRe getting the attention now.
Thanks Scott! Looks like a good way to go, I'll give it a try!
Supposed to be a great day tomorrow weather wise. I think it's going to be Ryan's day!
This is surely Warm and Fuzzy. Gota love it.
Good luck Ryan.
My best, Paul
Good luck Ryan! I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of your first deer!
Good luck Ryan! That is truly a world class smile young man.
Good luck Ryan!!!!!!!! May God Bless you with a deer
CRAP!
Hang in there Ryan!
Ryan, I started bow hunting at 9 years old and missed about 5-7 deer over two seasons before finally connecting. Keep at it. We're pulling for ya!
So close yet too far! Keep after them Ryan! I know you can get it done!
Keep at it Ryan!! You'll get a chance at a deer I'm sure of it!
Awesome! Thanks for taking us along on the adventure. Good luck Ryan, you're gonna make a great hunter!!
Looks like you are getting the full experience Ryan. Persistence usually pays off in the end. Get back out there and make it happen. Best of luck to you guys.
I haven't had a chance to wish you good luck since Ryan's season started. Good luck Ryan! Enjoy every chance you get to be in the woods. I can't wait to help pack out an animal with you! I'm sure it won't be long....Hope you are getting out this weekend, I'm pretty much living/hunting through you guys for the rest of this bow season, due to some other (fantastic) obligations.
Also for Scoot I can now only begin to understand how great an experience this is for you.
Shoot straight my friend, but always remember it is the hunt that matters not the results!
Jon
Awesome thread! thanks for sharing. Good luck Ryan! being a father of 2 boys (1 is 4 and the other is a week old) this gives me idea's on how to "capture" these moments. Thanks again!
Tell Ryan I missed a bull elk at 25 yards last year. Shake it off little man!
We have all done it. I have missed on a deer.....With a rifle, and a bear and a deer with a bow. It is all part of the learning curve.
Heck, I see the "pros" miss in the hunting shows on tv.
Tell him he is in good company with his missed opportunities!!
My guess is he was "aiming" at the whole deer and not picking a spot like he knows how to!!
Have missed plenty of times - missed the first elk I ever shot at after waiting 25 years to finally chase them!!!! Got my bull this year. It was even sweeter as it will be for you, Ryan!
I would suggest having him practice from a seated position. You might find that he is anchoring differently or letting the cam rest on or against his thigh without realizing it.
I'm rooting for you, Ryan!!!! Pete
I think this might just garner my vote for best thread of the year.
Keep at it Ryan!! Everyone has missed buddy...I missed three deer in one hunt before I shot my first deer with a bow. You will get it done...I have no doubt about it!!
Keep the faith Ryan! I've missed plenty of times! I think I may have even shed a tear or two in my life! You'll get it done, we have faith in you!
P.S. The Jacks should have won that game!!!! Grrr!
Oh man, so close! Be sure to tell him that I missed two elk this year and they are about 5 times the size of a deer! It is going to be just plain sweet when he finally gets one. There is still plenty of time left in the season.
Good luck, Ryan!! I've got faith in you!
A miss can happen to anyone, regaining confidence is the key.
I am still struggling mentally with a shot I didn't make last Friday but I will be back out there.
My son also missed a shot last Friday but he turned around and shot a double on Saturday. Both of those shots were perfect.
Don't give up Ryan, it will happen for you sooner or later!
Man Scoot, Ryan's hunt brings back so many memories for me.
I was 12 when I shot at my first deer, a big ol' doe. Clipped her brisket. Bummer. The next year at 13 my dad went all out, as only he could do, built a huge wooden ground blind, painted black on the inside and insulated. We set it up in the middle of a big overgrown field and baited it. We spent the night in there and the next evening I took a 20 yd shot at a doe and just like Ryan went right over the top of her back! I didn't have tears, but I was plenty mad! Dad had to spend the next few mins calming me down, and telling me how that was a part of hunting. A short time later she came back again at 20, and that time I nailed her! Man that sure was cool having my dad there.
That was a long time ago, but no matter how many animals I kill I'll never forget that first with my dad. Great job Scoot on being a good dad and spending time with your son. Coming from someone who's dad did the same for him, I can tell you he'll always cherish the memories.
Chin up little brother! One time I shot all three of my broadhead arrows in my quiver at the same deer and missed each time! I was never able to pinpoint exactly what happened, but sometimes it just isn't your day. The best news is there is another day right around the corner and the deer are still there. Get back out there and good luck.
Ryan, Hang in there bud. It will all come together one day. Do you think all of his clothing may be affecting his form? Just a thought. True story, I once emptied my quiver (6) got down collected my arrows and then proceeded to miss 2 or 3 more times that night. Top that!
Well good luck to Ryan.
We've all missed. It happens. I missed a pesky doe twice this year on shots that I would never miss. It happens. Nerves, jumpy deer, nerves, peep sight not straight, nerves... Can be anything.
Just take that nice breath out and let the arrow fly. He will hit home soon. I can feel it.
Again good luck, and I'm rooting for you Ryan.
Awesome! Good luck, Ryan!
The anticipation is killing me! I have a good feeling about tonite.
Tell Ryan to imagine the golf tee on the real deer, just like it's on the Glendel Buck. I'm going to take a WAG and say that he didn't ick a spot, just like flock shooting at birds.
Granpa will work the magic! Good Luck! C
Keep at it, Ryan! I've seen you shoot and I KNOW you can get it done. If you can get a turkey, you can get a deer. There is no doubt in my mind.
That's great that Grandpa is taking him, Scoot. Hopefully they can get out a few more times. My first year ever deer hunting I went with my grandpa. After a week of sitting every afternoon in the cold and snow I shot a nice buck. I can remember, like it was yesterday, how excited I was and the feeling of running up to him and jumping into his arms to give him a great big hug when we walked up to the deer!! I've since shot many deer hunting with my dad, but that memory of Grandpa and I is the best. He keeps the picture of the two of us and the deer on the table in his nursing home room where I see it every Thursday when I visit him to play cards. I would like nothing more than to see Ryan create the same memories!
You've still got time, good luck!!
Can you take a 3d target into the plot and take some practice shots? I agree with JLS, I think Ryan needs to pick a spot and Ryan I know you read these and I know you are feeling down but buddy, it IS going to happen. No doubt! It might not be this year but you are 12 years old, you are going to kill a lot of deer in your life.
Get em, kid! Ryan, you're my favorite bowsiter. Its gonna happen and its gonna be awesome when it does. Scott, any chance you can video this? You'll both look back on it with tears in your eyes one day
Here is my $.02
Tell him to concentrate on just breathing out when he lets the arrow fly. Just relax and release the arrow with your breath.
Just like the old military acronym for shooting.
BRASS Breathe Relax Aim Squeeze Shoot... Granted that's for firearms, but same deal.
I've found its that breath out that makes all the difference in the world. Calms the nerves and the shakes.
NOW GO GET EM RYAN!
This is one of the best threads on the internet.
Tell Ryan to forget about the misses. The only shot that is important is the current shot he is about to make. Tell him to remember the progressions of his shots at home when he's practicing. If he repeats them he will hit his target. Also let him know that I hunted for 20 years before I had my first bow kill. Sometimes I would only get 1 or 2 opportunities at a decent shot per year. I have had way more misses than I can remember. I don't take shots that are iffy and I've beat myself up over many a shot that I felt I should have made. A short memory on missed shots is your best friend. Also as many have pointed out it's not about the kill, it's about the time spent creating memories of a lifetime.
Good Hunting Ryan and way to go Scoot.
My guess is he is either "punching" or "peeking". Remind him to gently squeeze the release and focus on following through the shot. You can watch the arrow for him.
Good luck, Buddy.... tonight's the night!!!
Love this past photo! Would be great to get it done with sis along!
Scoot, first of all I really admire you and your father for taking time with your children. they will never forget it. I hand rather have a clean miss than a bad hit any day. I have been bow hunting for around 50 years and still today I have to talk o myself before the shot, pick a spot, aim for off hand leg. Rayen you can do it. I like the idea of the 3d buck target in the food plot, shooting out of the ground blind, minus the golf tee. Go get them RYAN. Forrest
Scoot, just thinking. looking at the first pitcure of right before Ryan shot , the deer had his head ,ears toward you two, I think what could be happning is the deer are JUMPING the string. you might want to wait until you see the back of the deer ears. Forrest
Soot, yes having fun is what it is all about. no I can't see a deer jump the string with my eye. not wanting you to make excuses, just thinking. a video camera would tell you, and be cool to have also. I shot a doe last week 3/4 away, when I recovered the deer the exit wound was coming out towards the rear. no doubt she spun towards me on the shot. Forrest
I'm not positive of this, but I think I might hold the record for the most misses before taking a deer with my bow:). In my first two seasons when I was 12 and 13 years old, I missed 13 deer with the bow!!! Tell Ryan to hang in there! He has a long way to go to break my record!!:))
Im with the guys saying to make sure to pick a spot! After all my misses as a kid, my dad had me take the paper plate off the hay bales ( no 3D targets then ) and just shoot at the bale with no small target to aim for. He told me to just pick a spot on the bale and shoot for it. It must of worked because in my 3rd year, I killed the first deer I shot at! I even taped a little piece of paper to the inside of my bow limb and wrote " pick spot" on it so I would see it constantly to help me remember.
Good luck Ryan!! This is the one thread I make sure to check every day!
Scoot: When my son Matt shot his first deer I put him in a stand by himself. My thinking was he needed to be by himself without out "undue pressure" (me)! Poof, dead deer! Maybe you could set him up and disappear?
Great thread Scoot! I'm voting you father of the year! Ryan is very focused and persistent! He's got "career employment" down the road in Alexandria when he is ready!
Snow coming tomorrow....Tuesday will be getting cold (and good)!
Mark
go get'em Grandpa and Ryan,it's going to Happen. Forrest
Scoot, Great thread and thanks for sharing. This reminds me of my 1st deer season 39 yrs. ago. What my Dad did with me was he would set me in a stand and then he would set up his own stand fairly close, say 40 yards max from me. We could see each other and could somewhat communicate with hand signals. Back then if we even saw a deer it was a big deal. If its any consolation, it took me 19 yrs. to kill my first deer with a bow. Tell Ryan to hang in there and good luck. I believe he will do it. Remember to "pick a spot and follow through". Watch the arrow all the way to the target. I am sending good vibes to you fellas.
Oh and Scoot, my praise goes out to you for taking the time to teach your children how to hunt and about the outdoors. Well done Sir!
awesome!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing
I can't believe I have missed this thread until now. Nothing better than bowhunting with your kids. Both my son and daughter arrowed their first deer when they were 10. My son was sitting with his grandpa when he shot his 8 point and my daughter with me when she shot her doe. Both cried tears of joy when they got the job done. Good luck to you guys, looking forward to following along.
Scoot, We've got some slow sits going on down here around Alexandria, MN as well....18 degrees tonight just doesn't cut it with those winter coats on.....2 deer for me is it.
A good chance of snow coming followed by a high of 4 degrees!!!! This will get them moving assuming they are still around after your wolf visited.
Keep us posted!
Mark
Scoot , your son is getting invaluable lessons in hunting
Outstanding work by both of you!
and Thanks for bringing us along
Did you remember to attach the photo?
Ryan, we're pulling for you!!
"Spork".....I'm going to steal that one Scott!
Good luck Ryan! Christmas break is coming up and I don't think rudolph is going ot make the trip back north with Santa this year!
Grandpa rolls in his grave when punts get blocked out of the back of the endzone...
Probably better that they lose anyways since they're out of the playoffs, better draft pick next year and they need to build a team around their new QB.
The Vike's and Ryan's prospects are looking up! GL!
If the deer was that spooky, she would have never tolerated the noise getting ready for the shot.
Loving this. Keep it coming.
A video camera would have already been focused and running....sorry, couldn't resist!!
Love the story
Good Luck!
Go get 'em Ryan! Believe and you will get your chance!
Mark
Ryan and Scoot,
Keep at it!!
Your persistence will be the key!!
Ryan,
Stick with it!! You'll probably get another chance....just be ready for it!!
....and have a Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas young man. Patience grasshopper, you'll get 'em. We're all rootin for ya!
Merry Christmas! Really enjoyed following your season. Stick with it and good things will happen! Best of luck.
Maybe he will get a buck next sit as a nice Christmas gift!!!
It always happens when you least expect it.Good luck maybe it will be your christmas present.
Go Ryan go! You will get your chance!
Mark
Sorry about that boys. I've got no sage advice, I'll only say this happens to all of the best bowhunters and that all we can do is try to learn from what happens, be our best and get back on the horse. Good luck and chin up
Been enjoying your story. This part stinks, and it stinks bad.
On a positive note, Most high hit deer survive a bow hit! Probably around 90%. Especially low poundage bow.
The deer Frank got last week dropped too and he barely hit top of lungs. He was aiming high heart. I had a huge buck drop to my shot this year and hit him high. He lived at least 2 weeks into gun season.
Especially this time of year sound echos bad and deer are jumpy. Gotta shoot for heart, they drop.
Never Ever Give Up!!!!!
Good luck guys.
Several years ago my son hit a buck high. I looked everywhere imaginable for 2 days even though I was fairly certain it was a non vital hit. It seems as a parent we just never want to give up hope of recovering the animal and then getting to see the smile back on our kid's face. Unfortunately both the kids and parents sometimes have to deal with not so fun side of hunting as well.
Even if this season comes to an end without a deer, try to focus on all the fun times you've shared and keep shooting. Next season will be a fresh start and a time for more terrific memories.
Hang in there guys, these things happen to everyone unfortunately and the good news is the deer will most likely be fine! I remember as a young man missing all kinds of deer until I finally connected on one. I bet I missed a half dozen or more times until I finally got lucky. It'll happen for Ryan too! Best of luck to you both! The memories you've made with Ryan and your family and shared with the rest of us are priceless!
Ryan, you have a good dad. Be very thankful for that. I would give anything to go hunting with my dad. You are very lucky.
Brodsky x20!
Scoot, we've never met, but I I know you are a GREAT dad!
Keep it positive and good will happen!
You and Ryan make an All Star Team!
Mark
Get him back out there if you can. Don't worry about seeing anything or shooting anything. But be ready. Take some cards or a book to read together. Don't really think of it as a day hunting, just a day in the woods. You never know but if that deer is still live, who knows, he might come back and surprise you and give your son another shot. But Don't talk about that. Just try and get him to spend some time with you in the blind again!!
Man, great thread! Only second to Ryan's turkey hunt as the best thread of 2014
Just goes to show that you don't necessarily have to kill anything to have a successful and memorable hunt. I know I learned that lesson personally this year. Scott, thanks for sharing Ryan's hunt with us. My daughter followed along closely as well since she is going on her first archery deer hunt next fall. We've all been cheering Ryan on and praying that he'd connect! In the end I think that he did connect perfectly with one of the most important things in life, his dad. God bless you guys. Have a happy new year and tell Ryan that turkey season is right around the corner!
Scoot, You are truly blessed to have such an amazing son. For a boy to say something like that at such a young age shows maturity beyond his years. You have created a bond that will never be broken and have a hunting partner for life. I feel the best is yet to come for you fellas. Enjoy the ride! Rob
Twenty years from now, Ryan will value these memories even more.....and I have a suspicion that persistence will be one of his stronger attributes!!
Good luck to you guys. I'm hoping for some special last day magic for you both. Either way though, thanks for taking us along for ALL of the ups and downs of Ryan's season. You have created some terrific memories for your family.
Jeff
Good luck guys!
Ryan , When i was a young man like you i missed alot and now at 35 i still miss. Hang in there buddy Aim small miss small. HUNT
Good stuff, man. Even though a tag wasn't punched, those memories are much bigger than any deer. Well done, Scoot!
Good stuff. I be you end up missing that little mouse.
Awesome. Loved following along. Also love the skunk hat!
Thanks for the thread, I enjoyed following along.
Ryan, the great thing about hunting is there is always next year, and you got a whole life of "next years" ahead of you. Can't wait to see you get it done! Way to tough it out and stick with it, I have a feeling you'll be very successful in the years to come.
This was a realy good post I hope you do it again next year.
Great story Scott. Gives Ryan something to look forward to in 2015!
Great thread, great lessons of perseverance... And a great photo of the skunk hat silloutte against the sunset- that will will never be forgotten by either of you. My eldest sone hunted his entire first season when he was 12 with similar results to your boy's. It was the last hunt of the following year before he connected. Then again, my daughter brought her first deer down with the first arrow she ever loosed in the woods. That's, as everyone says, hunting, I suppose.
Then again, I unted for at least ten years with a bow before I ever brought any meat home. I had no mentor, just a few magazines and a lot of bad advice from the few locals that sold arrows.
Our kids are lucky hey have dads that will teach them how to hunt, and cut down that learning curve... but even more so, we ourselves are lucky to have kids that will hunt with us.
Ryan, my first season, I was a lot older than you and I ended my season with one wounded deer that I never recovered and no meat to show for it. That experience made me a better hunter and I've had more to show for it every year since.
Don't feel bad about how your season went. You had a great season out there with your dad, sister, uncle, and grandpa. My grandpa's ashes rest in Lake of the Woods, not too far from you. I'd give every antler hanging in my house to sit in a blind with my grandpa, even if we never saw a deer.
It's all about the chase son. Taking a deer home is just the icing on the cake.
Awesome write-up. Thank you for chronicling your season.
I would say that he'll be better off for persevering and not achieving all his goals. Sounds like his goals were perfectly balanced between difficult and attainable.
And one day it'll happen so easily it will be confounding how easy and how difficult the same thing can be....
Great story Scoot. I look forward to reading the next chapter.
This is inspiration to my 12 year old as well to get practicing for next fall. Nine months will go fast.
I don't know how in the world I missed this thread the first time around, but it's made for some great reeding. Go get 'em Ryan !
Alright! Go get 'em Ryan! Good luck his fall! There's a buck out there whose days are numbered!
I loved following this thread last season! Go get em Ryan! Pulling for ya bud! Please keep the updates coming Scoot.
I missed this thread last year, but I'll be sharing it with the kids tonight. I suspect that Ryan is going to have a few more fans pulling for him. Best of luck!
I know all kids are different, but 10 is REALLY young to be bowhunting. Very few kids at that age have the physical ability, and more so, the emotional maturity, to hunt and deal with the things that can happen (see thread above). I know he wants to go and you want him to go, but at some point (last year), you should have pulled the plug. He was not ready. He shouldn't be the one deciding if he goes or not, it should be your call as a parent to decide. It is obvious he was not ready, and there is nothing wrong with having him wait until he is ready. I know it's hard, but you have to do what is best for him in the long run.
Both of my teenagers bowhunt, so I know how hard it is to decide when they are ready, because you want them to experience all the things you have already experienced in the woods.
Good luck this season! I hope it works out well.
Good luck guys this season and don't worry about what people think, your the Dad you make the decisions for your Son if it's legal for him to hunt and he's been practising go for it hope he arrows himself a nice deer. Thanks for sharing
Man! This is the best thread in a few years. It really brings me back to my first hunts and just how jacked up I got. I can't wait to hear about it all coming together. Thanks again for taking us along, Scott. This, my friends, is what its all about!
Great thread! Keep up the good work, cant wait to see your son smiling for another picture with his first deer!!
This is one of the best threads I have read on here, by far! Getting to enjoy hunting with your son is what its all about. Thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures and tell the story. Ryan seems like a determined young man and I'm sure he will have many successful hunts in his future.
I had missed this whole thread. This is great stuff. I can't wait for the next update.
Keep after em Ryan and Scoot! Keeping a close eye on this thread!
I agree, it's going to happen soon. Hopefully this weekend! If I were a deer on your land, I would not be getting much sleep right now!
Good luck Ryan! Looking forward to that big grin of your's posing behind your deer this year!
Man, Ryan is getting so close! It's going to happen soon for him I have a feeling. Really looking forward to seeing that smile behind his first deer!
Scott, thanks for sharing. My dughter Kia and I are following along closely. Unfortunately half pint can't get into the stand until October 24. We'll have that weekend and then one other weekend before gun season to try to get her on a deer. She's shooting great as well and ready to try! Good luck to you guys!
Thanks again for a great weekend of hunting, Scott. Baxter and I really appreciate it. I will definitely be looking back at it as one of the highlights of my fall when hunting season finally winds down in December.
October 17th Ryan is going to kill a buck. That is my prediction.
Good luck! Will be looking forward to the update. Jeff
Good luck boys! We expect some blood on the ground this weekend!
Keep after 'em Ryan... we're pulling for you!!!
Scoot, I had the same thing happen with my son forgetting his release when he was also just ten years old. I was angry, he was upset... we both survived and got over it though. Sometimes we just have to keep in mind that although we are doing very "adult" things we are still just dealing with 10 year olds.
Now my son is 21 and I consider him a hunting partner. The time and training you are putting in now is worth every second spent....frustrated or otherwise! Keep it up! Jeff
That's what bowhuntn is all about! Big congrats to you both! Hunt of a lifetime right there
Way to go Ryan! Congrats! I knew you could do it!
Scott, thanks for taking us along on Ryan's journey! It was a pleasure to follow his progress and to enjoy the hunt with you guys. Ryan's lucky to have you!
Awesome Job Ryan. We've been rooting for you.
Great story telling as well. I've truly enjoyed this thread over the past year or so. Lots of learning along the way for everyone involved. I'm anxious for when my boy is old enough to get in the woods as well.
A great "final chapter" if you say so Scott, but I think this may just be the "first chapter" in a long book to come.
Thanks again for taking us along.
Yesssssss!!!!!! Way to go, Ryan!!! I've been waiting for an update and this was the one I was hoping to read! Awesome!!!
Awesome! Congrats Ryan!! Let the addiction begin.
Congratulations guys... awesome job Ryan!!!
Heck yeah! Very well done, congratulations Ryan.
So awesome. Thanks for taking us along.
Congratulations Ryan!!!! Well done.
Great shot Ryan and congrats on your first buck!
Dad, keep up the good work. You're doing it right for sure.
Final chapter?! This was just the end of an awesome first chapter! The years to come are going to add many chapters to an epic story!
Congrats to you and Ryan!!! Jeff
Awesome! Way to go Ryan ! Thanks for taking us along Scoot! I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old son that I cannot wait to take to the woods! This thread has me really pumped up for that.
It just doesn't get any better than that! Congrats to Ryan on his first deer, and congrats to you for making it happen!
congratulations.....and thanks for taking us along on the journey!

Mr. Ryan,
Congratulations on a hard earned, long awaited trophy! Archery hunting is never easy, but the rewards are well worth the efforts. I look forward to reading about your exploits in North Dakota. Best of luck this season and in the future!
Scoot,
Not sure how I have missed this thread for the last year, but it's definitely one of the best I've ever read. Something about being there watching a kid progress! Really a great read. Hunter, my son, is 12. He's shot a number of deer and a bear with rifle. I just took him this past week-end for his first archery hunts. He seen 3 bucks and 5 does in 3 sits. He has the same enthusiasm as Ryan. We'll see what happens!
