With too much rain this year the farmer couldn't plant his crops. Normally beans or corn. Some'weeds' grew up in the field. With a foot of snow almost two weeks ago I can see deer tracks all over the field. They are also bedding in it. This is in east centr Minnesota. What is growing in the field?

Goldenrod. Genus Solidago. It grows thick in my back field.
If you ice fish check out the swollen parts of the stems. They have goldenrod gall fly grubs in them that make great bait.
