This article was in the newspaper today in the Outdoors Section concerning a cougar killed in Arkansas.

Ok, the people that wrote the article are idiots. At first they call it a mt lion and then they say Mississippi is in the historic range of the Florida panther so you better not shoot a big cat in Mississippi because they are federally protected. Then they go on to say the biggest obstacle is the state line between Mississippi and Arkansas. Explain to me how a panther gets from Florida to Mississippi by crossing the river from Arkansas. Obviously a lion from South Dakota or eastern Colorado. Morons.

There is a bridge across the Mississippi River at Greenville, connecting Mississippi and Arkansas. Also I think cats can swim but don't really like to.

There was also a lion killed in Bossier City La back two or three years ago by state wildlife officials.

I don't really think there is much doubt that lions are in the southeast United States outside of Florida.

Texas has a fair population too.
