The thread about shooting broken rack deer got me to thinking. Would you have a broken rack deer that you shot put back together? If I had trail cam pics of the deer complete, I think I might because one could get real close. What say you?

I'd either mount it the way I shot it or not shoot at all. If the rack was somehow broken during the kill then I probably would consider having it fixed up.

agree with Pig Doc and Franzen, keep it the way you go it.

Pig Doc, they're called enhanced not fake!
As a taxidermist, I've had to add a tine here or there, fix this and that. It's what you want to see when you look at your trophy that counts. Once had to add a paw on a 3 legged bear for a guy.

Agree with Franzen, but not Pig Doc. I like fake boobs more than the real ones.

Bear Track I will say, even though I would have a rack fixed, a three legged bear would be cool.

Depends on what you are hunting. I passed up a really good bull elk because the whale tail was broken off on one side. Never have gotten close to getting a bull that nice again. That was 25 years ago and I still regret it.

I arrowed my largest racked buck several years ago. On his death run he ran wide open into a hickory tree and broke off his left G3...yep, I had it fixed.

Yeah I've heard of that before centerpunch. I think in that case I'd have him fixed too!

I fixed one last year. This nontypical broke of his drop tine when he crashed after the shot. I found the drop tine and epoxied it back on after he was scored for P&Y. If it had been broken before the shot, I would not have had a fake one added.

I would fix anything that broke off after the arrow hit him. Nothing that broke off in a fight.
If my wife lost her rack, I would most definitely have it enhanced, I mean fixed. :)

Ghostbird, a broken tine can be put back on and included in the score.

If it's all about antlers, why shoot the buck.
Instead, pick up his sheds, and get them mounted.
That way one buck may be two to five trophies!

Writer, if only finding the sheds (both) was that easy!
