Whitetail Hunt
Whitetail Deer

The title should read, "Looking for Whitetail Hunt Suggestions."
Now that i'm 18 and have the financial means I want to do one "special hunt" every year. I've decided to do a whitetail hunt in 2015 because it's a species that has always interested me, I feel like it shouldn't be too difficult to plan and it should be somewhat reasonable on price, which is somewhat important as I plan on buying a house this next year and expanding my business. I am not too particular on the type of hunt, I only have two requirements. It has to be a bowhunt, and it has to be fair chase.
I would love to do it diy, but without having any whitetails in Utah I have no experience whatsoever hunting them, and with me running my own business I don't have a ton of time to dedicate to this. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and happy thanksgiving!
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I would like a decent chance at a 130"+ deer.
There are plenty opportunities in the Midwest for a diy hunt. Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, south Dakota, north Dakota etc all have decent amounts of public land and tags can be had every year.
However it will take some time investment to harvest a decent buck. Sure you can do some internet scouting and have a good hunt. But I would hunt the first ten days of November for a high perctage chance at filling a tag. If you can do an august scouting trip even better. There are still some landowners that will give permission. You can get lucky and stumble on one or the norm it will take a lot of asking and time doing so.

If you want to tag out on a good deer and have a shot at a decent deer and have time limitations, get an outfitter. Most who kill diy big deer are residents with plenty of time to hunt and locate good public land and even then they typically don't kill big ones with much regularity. If you have a week to hunt, you will need everyday of it to kill a good buck on private outfitted land.
Like I said, I would love to do it diy, but due to time constraints I think an outfitter is necessary.
Fred Bear once said Whitetails are a poor mans trophy HAHA them days are long gone ! pay to play
Take a look a Big Sky Outfitters in MT. I've hunted with them and they have good ranches along the Powder River with a lot P&Y class bucks. www.bigskyoutfiiters.net

Thanks for the tip on bso, I honestly didn't even think about Montana. I will definitely look into it.
You should be able to do it DIY basically anywhere pretty easy with a week and proper planning. What have you arrowed in the past?
Everyone wants a 130", very few get one... Something to consider as well.
Try a semi guided hunt somewhere. You can have the outfitter help you with logistics, pre scouting and setup etc. You still get to put your deer hunting knowledge to work giving you satisfaction knowing you had a big part in your success!!
You also save dollars with a semi guided hunt. Crown land (government land) here in parts of Ontario and other provinces produce some monster bucks.
Both of my clients took these bucks while on a semi guided hunt in N.W. Ontario. Off crown land.
I would not go to MT...too many better states for WT
Thanks for all the suggestions through posts and pm's.
Hunting Fool, If you go DIY try and give yourself 10 days to hunt if at all possible. This has made more difference than any factor on my hunts.
I have killed a ton of animals on day 6-8. It is hard to jump for 5 days without any assistance and pile up a 130 class whitetail. I could tell some places but honestly you would be driving past better hunting than you might be going to.
I would really look at Nebraska or Kansas since they are close to you and have great opportunities available.
Good luck
