Ive had over 30 bobcats mounted throughout the years and im convinced that they have to be the hardest critter to mount. ive seen so many great taxidermists fail on cats.

if you want to get one done by Lonnie Travis. I don't know him at all but he is on this site and the work he does is flat-out awesome- id get in touch with Lonnie and work something out if I was you.

He is out of Kansas and here is his contact info-

good luck

Michael

Phil Soucy, probably the best with cats.

A rug is always a nice mount. If you get a open mouth mount pick someone that has a lot of experience with cats. The open mouth is tough to make look right. Good luck!

I didn't want this cat's mouth open, but the taxi thought he knew better than what his customer asked for. Oh well, still looks good, just not a big fan of the open mouth.

No doubt about it. Cats are the hardest to mount.

X3 on cats being hard to get right, especially the face.

Seen a few really nice ones but a ton of really bad ones.

Im a career taxidermist and know alot of the top guys in the business through competing at the world level... very few are good enough and anything short of exceptional wont cut it on a cat.

For big cats my first pick is phil Soucy. Both lions I saw at the last two world taxidermy championships were the best id ever seen. He was also a judge at the last world show, so that should say something. In short his, cats are unreal. He knows cats exceptionally well. I sat with him at that last show during the awards banquet, great guy too. Dont get me wrong, He is not cheap... but you get what you pay for.

Clay Wagner in texas is by far the best I know with a bobcat. He raises them and knows what they should look like. Ive seen some of his work that really amazed me.

One other fella i watched on ebay for years had some incrrdible looking cats. Right up there with clay. He was out of michigan and went by the ebay handle "wildlifeartist"

If i had the money those would be my picks.

Sorry for the poor quality cell phone pic. But this is my Bobcat from Minnesota. Taxidermy done by Kurt Fox in New York. This Tom was 42lbs and top 20 all-time SCI.

Although not a Bobcat, here's the next closest thing: Canadian Lynx. Again, sorry for the poor quality cell phone pic.

This Tom is top 20 all-time SCI as well.

I'm totally confident in my taxidermist to do a cat. He did my desert sheep and I couldn't be happier.

Check out the link for a nice bobcat mount (not mine).

Before anybody says anything, I did not kill the fawn. I found it during spring gobbler season. It had been stillborn the night before. It was in a big oval shaped area that had been beat up. Umbilical cord was still attached and it was still limp. Called game warden and got tag for it. Taxidermist wanted to mount it with fawn in its mouth but I wanted to be more subtle about it.

Here is a option. Instead of a natural habitat the wood pedestal gives a more formal look..

There is also a fellow in Pennsylvania by the name of Ashley Barrett.....Critter Creations who defeated Mr. Soucy a couple of years ago in the World Champonship with a Mountain Lion. His cats are unreal, unfortunately his prices are also reflective of his high achievements. However, I understand his cats always get priority and he has a relatively fast turn-around. Just a thought............

Wow, there are some really good mounts on this thread, but there are even more that I'd throw in the wood shed...

Talk to Lonny Travis in Kansas as mentioned above. Affordable and incredible work!

Use Bradbear's Taxidermist, awesome work!! Phil Soucy is unreal too, the best lions I've ever seen personally. Bohntr's looks good too.

I also want to add Phil and Ashley are both top notch cat guys as well as great people. Have talked cats with these guys on more than one occasion.
