This is either the 2nd or 3rd time the hunter and/or his dad have bought it. They are great people who are very low key about their success. Great folks to share a dinner with.

We need more hunting units!
I'm working on that at this very minute.
First, we need to restore helicopter surveys. I've been working hard with DFW on that and think we'll get it done by the time the fall survey season arrives.
Next, we need to survey other units we know have sheep and which may well have huntable populations. I think we'll get that done this fall as well.
That very unfortunate crash really set sheep hunting back in CA.

We know that all too painfully well. Then the disease outbreak in the Old Dads in 2013 just added to that.
We have many units in CA that we know have sheep but have not been surveyed in 15-20 years, if ever!
CA WSF will be submitting a grant request to the CA Big Game Advisory Committee, on which I sit, to get funding to survey some of these units next fall.
He also had no teeth and would not likely have made it through the summer.
