I am heading up to the Yukon this fall for a moose hunt, and will have a layover night in Vancouver, BC to make the flight schedules work. I thought I would check here to see which hotel everyone liked as they were traveling north to hunt. I would like one with good airport access and a great meal (steak and seafood preferably) within walking distance. Thanks, Brian

I have stayed here on a few occasions and it has worked well: HILTON VANCOUVER AIRPORT, 5911 MINORU BLVD, RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, V6X 4C7, CANADA.

They had a good restaurant on-site in case you decide not to venture out. Very close to the airport, so no traffic issues getting back there for your onward flight(s). Free shuttle to/from the airport, etc.

The Fairmont is in the airport terminal. Have stayed there a few times. Very convenient!

I booked my room at the Casino there by the hotel for my moose hunt coming up. I think a one bedroom suite was like 130$ a night and all the regular airport hotels were wanting at least that or more. The river rock casino is the name of it

Most hotels close to the airport have free shuttles.

The Fairmont, in the terminal, is very nice, very convenient, but also quite pricey. The Sky Train runs from the airport and will open up many possibilities.

I hate hotels, so for me they are just a necessity, not a "fun" part of a trip. I just go with clean and convenient.

Thanks for the responses. Ambush, I'm with ya on them just being a necessity. I'm taking the wife along, so I need a little nicer that I would require.

If the Wife is going then stay at the Fairmont in the terminal. No dragging baggage in and out of vans and lobbies. It's more than some other hotels, but as a percentage of your trip the difference is nothing. And your wife will appreciate it. Lots of choices to eat in the terminal, but as to be expected it is more expensive and, to me, less appealing.

If you really need to see some city, then take the Sky Train, right from the terminal, to Robson Street or Gas Town and the water front. Tons of expensive restaurants and trendy boutiques. Vancouver is Canada's San Francisco.

But guaranteed, you are getting the best part of the trip. Hope you hammer a giant bull!

And don't forget, you have a twenty percent advantage right now.

I would stay at the Fairmont at the airport, its really convenient when you have a ton of gear to haul around.
