Many commercial decoys you can add a real fan. I have a real fan.

What's the best way to add a fan? collapseable???

The best way is with a Primos tail feather gizmo. Pluck the primary and secondary tail feathers and hot glue the secondary ones onto the primary ones. The holder folds in four sections. If your feathers get bent or beat up, put it on your decoy in the off season. I still have my first fan from my B-Mobile that is 8-9 years old. Primos sells these separately. If you have a dried fan, then you're limited. But most strutters have their own way of attaching fans.

I'm using a tailfan holder from Edge. You have to place each individual tailfan feather in the slots. The holder is designed to fold the fan up for transport. As you can tell, I went a little overboard with the gorilla glue. It's not pretty but it's solid as a rock. I use a turkey fan tail saver and put that inside the DSD strutter bag.

I had to drill a hole right below the top feather slot to accept the bolt of the DSD strutter, just a tad bigger than the bolt and it fits good and snug.
