Retribution in CO

My season had a rough start to say the least. Car died. Locked my bow in the motel first day. Got the absolute worst rental car possible for rolling around on dirt roads. The only saving grace of my Nebraska trip was getting to meet some new friends. The best thing about bowsite is getting to meet so many great people/passionate bowhunters. Every person on the "Nebraska turkey recap" thread qualifies as that. Here's a few pics from my ordeal followed by some CO pics

The subaru died in Alliance Nebraska. Almost made it to where I was to meet midwest and Bowfreak. I grabbed my gear and hiked to the nearest motel.

suprprise! surprise! I got a CHEAP motel room. I'd have rather slept on the street. My gear still smells like cigarettes

Kissed the car goodbye the next day and had to be towed 1.5 hrs backwards just barely in time to get a rental

The tow truck driver and his wife were great people and turned me on to some good spots around their home town. They also offered to take my car and keep it for a few days until the company I donated it to would come to pick it up. Good people! This is a shot of "Bella" the copilot

Turned around and met midwest, Bowfreak and his daughter Riley for a day and a half of watching hundreds of birds on private before I had to head home. But, not before I locked my bow in the motel on the first morning. Total catastrophe of a trip if not for making some good friends. A different kind of bowhunting adventure to say the least! I was supposed to meet my friend Aaron Johnson, JTreeman, and Bake the following weekend but had to head home and save some coin.

I'd been scouting some birds for a month or so here in CO and was hoping for some revenge after getting whooped on in Nebraska

Some scouting pics. Truth be told, these CO birds have been much tougher on me than the Nebraska birds

This year wouldn't be so tough. Opening morning came without a single gobble in the spot the birds had been for weeks, but at about 730 I heard one. A half hour later they came up over a rise and the first to see my decoys was not a big one but I don't discriminate when it comes to turkeys. He hit the dekes and I let him have it at 9 yards

Good job on sticking it to the turkeys. I plan to start my own little referendum on them here in KY on Saturday. We really enjoyed meeting you and Riley still laughs about you being stalked by the dude with the Heads Up Decoy. LOL! We will chat soon....I have a little piece of suburban property that my niece just purchased that has a deer problem. :)

Will congrats on the bird and don't worry about the looks in town,,,, they're normal for most places. Like the walking selfie lol... Maybe worse tho if you have a sign lol. But think of the laughs you're having now.
