Great night bowfishing in Connecticut!
Took out my son, his girlfriend, and his girlfriend's father for a night of bowfishing and we hammered them. I usually play guide on these trips but by midnight my son's girlfriend was so worn out from shooting that I took 10 shots and killed 5 fish.
We had about 150 shots in 4 hours and boated around 30 fish. The dad shot a monster 40+ lb carp. Good times!
First pic is my son Pat with two 30+ fish.
His girlfriend Abby with her first, a nice fish in the high 20's.
Wow! Well done - so much fun! Post more pics if you're up to it.
Abby's dad with a giant 40+ river monster.
Here's a great pic of Abby and her dad.
Her dad shot a freak fish. We have only shot one fish like that several years ago and brought it to the CT biologist. He had to consult with a carp expert and it came back as a rare mutation in 1/10,000 carp. It has long flowing fins like a goldfish but it's not a goldfish. This is the 2nd one killed on my boat in 10 years.
Excellent! That is a fun hunt for sure!!!
Ah the irony of the IT guy/Site owner posting a sideways pic! Makes the rest of us feel a bit less foolish.
I better grab a screenshot before he fixes it.
That's a great night Pat, and I won't say a word about the posted weights of the fish. :-)
The shooting was so good that Abby got wore out and I took her spot during the last 30 mins. I shot at 10, hit 8 and boated 5. Not too bad.
By the way - I owe all this fun to Mark Land from Muzzy. He introduced me to night bowfishing in 1999 and I have been bringing friends on my boat every year since. It's a great way to introduce non-hunters to shooting.
I thought Mark McGwire was still working in some capacity with the Cardinals? I guess regardless of a hectic baseball schedule one is never too busy to find some quality bowfishing time. :)
Mark McGwire is the batting coach for the L.A. Dodgers, but apparently finds time to bowfish with Pat and friends.
Wow, those are some giants!
He does resemble Mark McGuire.
What a night! Looks like a great place for a marriage proposal?!:)
Mark Land will do that to people. Pat, what happen to your little boys?
Wow some really nice fish
Holy cow that 40 is a bigun.
yowzers! that looks like a blast.
Looks like a great time Pat......still something I have never done! Need to get working on that!
Way to go guys! That's awesome!
way cool folks ,looks like you taught them well pat ,thanks for the pics
Congratulations on all accounts! I love that mutant carp. And for Pat to have a girlfriend who likes bowfishing AND you want to be out on a boat with her dad all night....that's a good thing! :)
Looks like a blast!
Curious to know if your son's girlfriend & her dad are newbies to archery or had they been exposed to it prior to this trip?
What do you do with the fish? Food plot fertilizer perhaps?
Girlfriend is a killer fisherman and we're getting her into hunting. Her dad is a hunter but this was his first time Bowfishing.
We don't really do anything with the carp. I consider them swimming garbage.
