FATHER’S DAY BROWN BEAR - CONGRATS ASHLEY!
After Mark Gutsmiedl guided me on my grizzly hunt, he had his daughter meet him in Anchorage to hunt brown bear. Ashley is 12 years old and already an avid and successful bowhunter. I think it was six days after arriving in AK and some long days sitting that she arrowed a nice brown bear on Father’s Day. She made a perfect shot and the bear only went about 10 yards. What a special day for Ashley and a very proud Dad. Two days later, she took a P&Y black bear and still had time for some halibut fishing before returning home to Wisconsin. BIG CONGRATS TO ASHLEY AND MARK!!

Ashley used a G5 Quest, 100 grain Striker BH and Carbon Express Blue Streak arrows. Not sure of total arrow weight but probably about 340 gr - don't hold me to that. I am sure that she was pulling 55 lbs - that's not a typo…...

Just to follow-up on my last post, Ashley actually hunted brown bear at the ripe old age of 10 but didn't get an opportunity. She was pulling 53# at that time. She practices her shooting 5 to 6 days a week.
