Does anyone use monofilament for serving? Any good or bad experiences with it? What weight do you use?
Thanks

I've tried. It's too slick and doesn't hold well. In a pinch, dental floss works better. But why not use the proper tool for the job?

braided fishing line better, just wax it, mono slides up and down to easy

Everybody used mono serving for decades. Bows were slower, longer, and string mtl was different but that's what we used.

For my longbows it's great.

I think they make a clear synthetic serving material. The factory strings on my Invasion have a good deal of clear serving on them.

Like Bou'bound said, it was state of the art 35 years ago. The big selling point was that it was slicker than Dacron or nylon and made for a smoother release for finger shooters back in those days.

Fifteen years ago mono was fairly standard on the bows I bought, and they seemed to crap out at the worst possible time. As others have mentioned, better options are available now.

I use 22 strands of 452X with .014 halo on all servings and it provides a nice fit on arrow nocks.
